£25 Reward.—Murder.
Police Department,
Wellington, 8th February, 1887.
WHEREAS on the night of the 30th January last a Native, named Heremaia Nuku, and his wife, Riria, were shot in a whare at Kaitara, Poverty Bay, and the whare was afterwards destroyed by fire: And whereas, at a Coroner’s inquest, a verdict of wilful murder against persons unknown was returned:
Notice is hereby given that a reward of £25 will be paid by the Government to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the offenders.

“Deeds and Instruments Registration Act, 1886.”—Notice of Appointments.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the under-mentioned appointments under “The Deeds and Instruments Registration Act, 1886;” such appointments to take effect from the 14th February, 1887:—
Land and Deeds Registration District of Wellington.
JOHN FRAME MCBETH, Postmaster, Wanganui, to be District Agent at Wanganui.
Land and Deeds Registration District of Canterbury.
EDMUND COOK, Postmaster, Timaru, to be District Agent at Timaru.
The Post Offices at Wanganui and Timaru respectively are hereby appointed as the offices of the above-named Agents respectively, and as the places for reception of deeds and instruments under the said Act.

Alterations in and Additions to the Scale of Charges in force on the New Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with section 144 of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” I, Edward Richardson, the Minister for Public Works, do hereby make the following alterations in and additions to the scale of charges, to come into force from and after the 21st February, 1887:—
PART II.—LUGGAGE, PARCELS, ETC.
Parcels for Distribution at Destination.—When more parcels than one are packed in hampers, crates, bags, cases, or other packing, and are consigned from one consignor to one consignee, the whole weight will be charged at double rates whether consigned as parcels or goods. The onus of proving that parcels are not packed rests with consignors.
PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.
HURUNUI-BLUFF SECTION.
When goods of Classes A, B, C, D, and E are consigned to Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill, the classified rates will be increased as follows:—
To Christchurch, by .. .. 1s. 1d. per ton.
To Dunedin, by .. .. 1s. 2d.
To Invercargill, by.. .. .. 1s. 3d.
But such increase will not be made when goods are consigned to private sidings at those stations.
