HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to ap-
point the under-mentioned gentlemen to be Superin-
tendent Collectors of Agricultural Statistics for the collection
of February, 1888, under "The Census Act, 1877," and to
define that the district for which each shall act shall be that
portion of the colony comprised by the counties or parts of
counties specified opposite his name, including the boroughs

THE following special order, made by the Kiwitea Road
Board, is published in accordance with "The Road
Boards Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT a special rate of 1½d. in the pound be hereby made
upon the rateable value of the whole of the rateable property
within the boundaries of the Wanganui Harbour Board
Block, being a portion of the Pohangina Ward of the Kiwi-
tea Road Board District, for the purpose of paying principal
and interest on a loan of £3,000, to be borrowed under "The
Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886;" such rate
to be an annual-recurring one for twenty-six years, and
payable on the 1st day of June in each year.
I certify that the above special order was duly made by
the Kiwitea Road Board, in conformity with the provisions
of "The Road Boards Act, 1882."

Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that HENRY HUGHES, of John-
ston Street, Wellington, in the Colony of New Zea-
land, Consulting Engineer and Patent Agent, has applied,
on behalf of Messrs. RICHARD ALLEN AND COMPANY, of
Timaru, in the aforesaid colony, Millers, to register, under
"The Trade Marks Act, 1866," the trade mark of which the
following is a description:—
Description of Trade Mark.
A circle, with scrolls at its margin, consisting of foliations
and diamonds, supported on a base, having on either side of
it the figure of a sphinx; around and on either side projects
tropical foliage, and on the apex of the said circle is a
crescent moon and a star supported on a pyramid.
Above the aforesaid device are four medallions, represent-
ing respectively the front and obverse sides of the medals of
the Colonial and Indian Exhibition of 1886, and the Wel-
ington Exhibition of 1885.
Underneath the said circular device is the name "Richard
Allen & Co." above a fan-like ornament, and on each side
of this name are upright devices, consisting of standards
foliated, and terminating at their top in faces supported by
scrolls.
In the centre of the circular device are the words, "The
Golden Gem Patent Process Flour."
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.
