to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the Tamaki
Section of the Wellington-Napier Railway: And whereas
the said land is held or occupied by Native owners:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers
vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and the
amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order
that the Government work known as the Tamaki Section of
the Wellington-Napier Railway shall and may be constructed
on or through the parcels of land more particularly men-
tioned in the Schedule hereto.

parcels of land are more particularly delineated on the plan
marked P.W.D. 14879, deposited in the office of the Minister
for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District
of Wellington, and thereon coloured purple and red.

Powers delegated to the Te Aroha Hot Springs Domain
Board under “The Public Domains Act, 1881.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-
eighth day of December, 1887.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in him by “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” His
Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council, dated
the fourteenth day of January, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-six, making delegation of certain powers
in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like
advice and consent, by this present order, delegate, but
only with respect to the piece or parcel of land described in
the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act
aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections
five and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons,
who shall be known as the Te Aroha Hot Springs Public
Domain Board, namely,—

CHARLES AHIER,
GEORGE LIPSEY,
GEORGE WILSON,
THOMAS GAVIN, and
JOHN ILOTT

(herein referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipula-
tions hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business
    on the first Saturday in each month, at three o’clock
    p.m., at the Courthouse, Te Aroha, or at such other
    time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the
    Board. The first meeting shall be held on Saturday, the
    seventh day of January, one thousand eight hundred and
    eighty-eight.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or
    by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’
    notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
    the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and
    no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
    at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
    and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the second
    Tuesday in December in every succeeding year thereafter,
    elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
    discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
    vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
    his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
    time appointed for holding the same, the members present
    shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of
    such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise,
    the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the mem-
    bers may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a
    Chairman.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of
    votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land called or known as the Hot
Springs Reserve, situate in Block IX., Te Aroha Survey
District, Provincial District of Auckland, and containing by
admeasurement 20 acres, more or less. Bounded towards
the north-west by Section No. 1 of the Town of Te Aroha,
and by land hereafter to be granted to Rina Mokena and
others, 1818 links; towards the north-east by land hereafter
to be granted to Rina Mokena and others aforesaid, 1100
links; towards the south-east by land hereafter to be granted
to Rina Mokena and others aforesaid, 1818 links; and
towards the south-west by Whitaker Street, 1100 links, to
the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages
more or less.

Fixing Sitings of the District Courts of Nelson, Westland,
Ashburton, Timaru and Oamaru, Otago Goldfields, and
Western Otago.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in
this behalf enabling me, I, William Francis Drummond
Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Courts of
Nelson, Westland, Ashburton, Timaru and Oamaru, Otago
Goldfields, and Western Otago, for civil and criminal busi-
ness, shall be held as follows, from and after the first day of
January next, in lieu of those previously fixed and ap-
pointed:—

NELSON DISTRICT.

For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Nelson,
on the 9th January, and 20th February.

WESTLAND DISTRICT.

For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, West-
port, on the 13th February.

For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Reef-
ton, on the 9th February.

For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Grey-
mouth, on the 2nd February.

For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Hoki-
tika, on the 6th February.

ASHBURTON DISTRICT.

For civil business, in the Courthouse, Ashburton, on the
13th January.

TIMARU AND OAMARU DISTRICT.

For civil business, in the Courthouse, Timaru, on the 16th
January.

For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Oamaru,
on the 18th January.

OTAGO GOLDFIELDS DISTRICT.

For civil and criminal business, in the Courthouse, Law-
rence, on the 23rd January.

WESTERN OTAGO DISTRICT.

For civil business, in the Courthouse, Invercargill, on the
25th January.
