REMARKS.—Fine weather up to the 9th, but with strong N.W. wind; from 10th to 20th showery, with N.W. and S.E. wind, and often strong, the maximum rainfall for month being recorded on the 11th, ·65in.; remainder of month very fine, warm, dry weather, with light winds chiefly from S.E. Maximum temperature in shade, 76°; minimum, 41°. Mean temperature of dew-point, 50·4°. Mean humidity, 76.

Goldfields Notices.

Gold-mining Lease cancelled.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 22nd January, 1887.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned gold-mining lease cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for:—
No. 116c. The Union Gold-mining Company (Limited); Sections Nos. 27 and 28, Block II., 13 acres 1 rood 35 perches, Cairn Hill, Otago Mining District.

Gold-mining Lease Certificates declared forfeited.

IN conformity with the regulations for the granting and issue of gold-mining leases, it is hereby notified that the under-mentioned certificates of application have been declared forfeited for non-execution of lease, and that the ground is now open to persons holding miners' rights or business licenses, or to applicants for a lease, as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for:—
970c. Joseph Slater and George Carter; Section 13, Block IV., Hedgehope District, containing 3 acres 3 roods 19 perches, in the Tuapeka Mining District.

971c. Charles McLean and others; Section 12, Block IV., Hedgehope District, containing 10 acres, in the Tuapeka Mining District.
Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this twenty-fourth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

Application for Rehearing of Claim dismissed.

NATIVE LAND COURT, NEW ZEALAND :
AUCKLAND DISTRICT.

IN the matter of a judgment of the Court given during a session opened at Helensville, Kaipara, in the said district, on the 21st day of September, 1886, upon the hearing of a claim to succeed to the interest of Rupuha te Korohunga in a block of land situate in the said district, and known as "Nukuroa;" and in the matter of the application of Horomona te Aria for a rehearing upon such claim in Te Wiroa No. 2, otherwise known as Nukuroa No. 1:
I, John Edwin Macdonald, Chief Judge of the said Court, and in exercise of the authority in that behalf vested in me, do hereby dismiss such application.
