Boundaries of Borough of Carterton extended.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section thirty-five of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886” (hereinafter termed the said Act), it is enacted that the Governor may, inter alia, at any time, by Proclamation, upon petition, publicly notified, of the Mayor and Council of a borough, alter the boundaries of such borough, so as to include therein any land which ought reasonably to be included in the borough:

And whereas a petition from the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carterton has been presented to me, praying me to alter the boundaries of the said borough, as hereinafter set forth, so as to include within such boundaries the land specified in the said petition: And whereas such petition has been duly notified as by the said Act required, and it appears expedient to make the alteration prayed for as aforesaid:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby alter the boundaries of the Borough of Carterton, and do proclaim and declare that, from and after the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, the boundaries of the said borough shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Wellington, situate in the Tiffin Survey District, bounded towards the north-east by Sections Nos. 140 and 204, Taratahi Plain Block, by a line across the main road from Wellington to Masterton, and by Section No. 144 of the said block; towards the south-east by Section No. 116 of the said block, and the north-western boundary-line of that section produced across a road; again towards the north-east by the last-mentioned road; again towards the south-east by Sections Nos. 34 and 46 of the Township of Carterton, and the north-western boundary-line of the latter section produced across a road: thence by Sections Nos. 58 and 70 of the said Township of Carterton, and the north-western boundary-line of the last-mentioned section produced across a road; thence by Sections Nos. 82 and 94, and the north-western boundary-line of the last-mentioned section produced across a road; thence by Section No. 107 of the Township of Carterton aforesaid to its westernmost corner; towards the south-west by a straight line across a road to the southernmost corner of Section No. 106 of the said township, and by the road which forms the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 135 and 215 of the Taratahi Plain Block to the southernmost corner of Section No. 241 of the said block; thence by the road which forms the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 243 of the said Taratahi Plain Block for a distance of 21 chains; towards the north-west by a straight line to a point on the north-eastern boundary-line of the said Section No. 241 21 chains distant from the easternmost corner of that section; thence by a straight line to a point on the north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 184 of the Taratahi Plain Block aforesaid 20 chains distant from the easternmost corner of that section; thence by a straight line to a point on the south-western boundary-line of Section No. 179 of the said block 20 chains distant from the southernmost corner of that section; thence by a straight line to the westernmost corner of Section No. 177 of the said block; thence by Section No. 178 of the said block to Section No. 176; thence by lines so as to include Allotments Nos. 41, 31, and 32 of the last-mentioned section, and a subdivision of Section No. 175 of the said block, containing 7 acres 2 roods and 25 perches, to the road forming the north-eastern boundary of the said Section No. 175; thence by the production of the north-

western boundary-line of the said area of 7 acres 2 roods and 25 perches across the said road; thence by Section No. 173 of the Taratahi Plain Block aforesaid to a point on the south-western boundary-line of that section 20 chains 26 links distant from its southernmost corner; thence by a straight line to a point on the south-western boundary-line of Section No. 141 of the said block 20 chains 28 links distant from its southernmost corner; thence by the said Section No. 173 to a point on the north-eastern boundary-line of that section 23 chains distant from its easternmost corner; and thence by a straight line to a point on the north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 141 aforesaid, 23 chains distant from the easternmost corner of that section.

Alteration of Boundaries of Benmore Limehills River District, County of Southland.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The River Boards Act, 1884,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby enlarge the boundaries of the Benmore Limehills River District, and do hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the said district shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto, and that this Proclamation shall come into force on the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the County of Southland bounded towards the north by a road from the north-west corner of Section No. 252, Hokonui Survey District, to a point in line with the western boundary of Allotment No. 12 of the Benmore Estate; thence towards the west by a straight line to and thence by a road forming the western boundaries of Allotments Nos. 12 (aforesaid), 15, and 16 of the said estate to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned allotment; thence by a line bearing north 22° east to the northern boundary-line of Allotment No. 18 of the said Benmore Estate; thence by a line bearing north 8° west to the northern boundary-line of Allotment No. 19 of the Benmore Estate aforesaid; thence by a straight line to Trig. Station XX., Hokonui Survey District; again towards the north by a line due east to Winton Stream; towards the north-east by a line bearing south 60° 5' east for a distance of 15 chains; towards the south-east by a straight line at right angles to the last-mentioned line to the road forming the south-western boundary of Section No. 363 of the said Hokonui Survey District; thence by the production of the last-mentioned line across that road; again towards the north-east by the said road to Allotment No. 39 of the Benmore Estate aforesaid; towards the south by the said Allotment No. 39 to a point 20 chains east from the said Winton Stream; again towards the south-east by a straight line to a point on the southern boundary-line of Allotment No. 40 of the Benmore Estate aforesaid 20 chains east from the said Winton Stream; again towards the north by the last-mentioned allotment to its south-eastern corner; towards the east and again towards the north by Allotment No. 43 of the Benmore Estate aforesaid to the road forming the south-eastern boundary of that allotment; again towards the south-east by that road to the south-eastern corner of Allotment No. 45 of the said estate; thence again towards the east by a straight line across the road, and thence by Allotment No. 48; again towards the north and east by the said Allotment No. 48 and Allotments Nos. 50 and 54 of the Benmore Estate aforesaid to the south-western corner of the last-mentioned allotment; thence again towards the south-east by a straight line to the north-western corner of Section No. 342, Hokonui Survey District; thence by that section and its western boundary-line produced across a road; thence again towards the north by that road to the eastern side of the road running through Section No. 11, Block IX., Winton Hundred; thence again
