REMARKS.

October.—Showery up to 6th, with prevailing S.E. wind and strong; hail on 1st; fine on 7th, 8th, and 9th, then showery up to 15th, the maximum rain occurring on 11th, 2·35in.; from 16th to 18th fine weather, then showery to 25th, with strong N.W. wind; remainder of month fine, with moderate wind; prevailing N.W. wind, and strong from that quarter on nine days. On the whole, unpleasant, changeable, and stormy month; thunder on 21st; fog on 28th. Maximum temperature in shade, 71°; minimum, 36°. Mean temperature of dewpoint, 45·5°. Mean humidity, 78. Earthquake on 6th, at 7 a.m. and 10.30 p.m., slight.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned special claim cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no special claim of the said ground had ever been applied for:—

Donnelly’s Creek Gold-mining Company (Limited); T 747; 57 acres 2 roods 25 perches, in the Westland Mining District.

Sale of Deferred-payment Sections, Patea.

IT is hereby notified, in terms of “The Land Act, 1885,” section 122, that the under-mentioned forfeited deferred-payment sections will be offered for selection by public auction, at the Crown Lands Office, Patea, on Saturday, the 3rd December, 1887, at 12 o’clock noon, under the deferred-payment system, at the upset price per acre noted opposite each section. The amounts of valuations for improvements must be paid in cash on the fall of the hammer.
