Description of Trade Mark.
An oval label having on the outer edge the words “Daukes & Co., Export Bottlers, London.” In the centre is the device of a vessel on water, propelled by oars, with the figure-head of a woman, the vessel having a sail set, on the sail being the words “Ship Brand.” Behind the vessel is the head of a boy with wings, in the act of blowing, with background of sky.

Alterations in and Additions to the Scale of Charges in force on the New Zealand Railways.
In accordance with section 144 of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” I, Edwin Mitchelson, the Minister for Public Works, do hereby make the following alterations in and additions to the scale of charges, to come into force on and after the 21st November, 1887:
PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.
AUCKLAND SECTION.
Class H.
Wool, undumped, from stations on the Te Aroha Branch, including Morrinsville, to Auckland, will be charged 6s. 6d. per bale.

Application to proclaim the Teremakau and Arahura Rivers and their Tributaries a Watercourse for the Deposit of Tailings.
NOTICE.—In pursuance of the powers vested in him by section one hundred and fifty-four of “The Mining Act, 1886,” His Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that application has been made to him to proclaim the watercourses known as the Teremakau and Arahura Rivers, in the Provincial District of Westland, and their tributaries, to be watercourses into which tailings, mining débris, and waste water of every kind used in, upon, or discharged from any claim or licensed holding adjacent to such watercourses shall be suffered to flow or be discharged.

THE following hydrographic information, received from Commander Hoskyn, H.M.S. “Myrmidon,” is hereby promulgated:
The master of the labour-vessel “Eliza Mary” reports having discovered an extensive shoal about fifteen miles S.W. of the South Islet of Willis Group, and 220 miles east (true) of Trinity Opening, on the coast of Queensland. Soundings in 9 fathoms were obtained in latitude 16° 27′ S., longitude 149° 48′ E., but there appeared to be much less water on the shoal in other places.

TANNA AND ERROMANGO ISLANDS, NEW HEBRIDES.
H.M.S. “Nelson,” at Moreton Bay, 15th October, 1887.
LIEUTENANT and Commander Wyley, H.M.S. “Raven,” reports the existence of a coral patch, about 2¼ cables in diameter, and having 2¼ fathoms least water on it, off the N.W. Coast of Tanna Island. Its approximate position is latitude 19° 25′ S., longitude 169° 16′ E., with Point Nebbutt (the N.W. point of Tanna) N.N.E., and a bluff, with a remarkable hole in its S.W. face, N.E. by E., ¾ of a mile distant. Being in calm water this shoal does not break.
