GREY COUNTY COUNCIL.
NOTICE is hereby given that the result of the poll taken under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” in a portion of the Brunnerton Riding, Grey County, on Monday, the 17th October, 1887, on the proposal of the Grey County Council to borrow £1,350 for the construction of a foot-bridge across the Grey River, between Wallsend and Taylorville, is as follows:—
Votes for the proposal, 156; votes against the proposal, 3; informal vote, 1. Total number of votes on roll, 250. As the number of votes in favour of the proposal exceeds one-half of the total number of votes which could be exercised, I do hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Whakatane Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

RESULT of poll taken on 17th October, 1887, on proposal to borrow £2,000 under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the Sub-district, Whakatane Road District:—
Total number of ratepayers on roll, 37; representing 47 votes. Votes recorded for proposal, 34; number of ratepayers voting for proposal, 24; votes against proposal, nil; number of ratepayers voting against proposal, nil; informal, nil; votes not recorded, 13.
As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I do hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

Arrangements for First Elections, &c., Borough of Brunner, County of Grey.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint
FRANK WILLIAM KEDDELL, Esq.,
to be Town Clerk of the Borough of Brunner, as constituted under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” and also to be Returning Officer to conduct the first elections of the Mayor and nine Councillors of the said borough; also to appoint Monday, the 21st day of November, 1887, to be the day for holding the first election of Mayor, and Thursday, the 24th day of November, 1887, to be the day for holding the first election of nine Councillors, of the said borough; also to appoint Saturday, the 26th day of November, 1887, at noon, to be the time, and the Good Templar Hall, Brunnerton, to be the place, at which the first meeting of the Brunner Borough Council shall be held.

THE following special order, made by the Mangaatua Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT this Board do now levy a special rate of one halfpenny in the pound on all rateable property in the Mangaatua Road District (not including Crown lands), for the purpose of meeting interest and other charges on a loan of £2,000, to be obtained from the Government under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886;” the said rate to be an annual-recurring rate until the loan is paid off, payable on the 30th day of June and the 31st day of December in each year, the first instalment to be payable on the 31st day of December, 1887.
I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made by the Mangaatua Road Board on the 31st day of August, 1887.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, on behalf of FREEMAN AND HILDYARD, of 27, Great Dover Street, Borough, in the County of Surrey, England, Baking and Egg Powder Manufacturers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description:—
Description of Trade Mark.
An oblong label having in the centre an oval formed by a broad band containing two cross-shaped devices, such band being intended for the reception of the names of the articles in respect of which the label is intended to be used, such as Almond Pudding Powder, Vanilla Pudding Powder, Nectarine Pudding, Chocolate Pudding, Peach Pudding, Lemon Pudding Powder. In the centre of the oval are the words “Try it” printed on an oblong block, with the words “Trade” and “Mark” on either side. Above the oval is the word “Freeman’s,” and below it the words “Guaranteed pure and wholesome,” and the facsimile signature “Freeman & Hildyard.”
