have been appointed Officers for the purposes of that Act within all that area in the Provincial District of Otago bounded on the East and South by the ocean from Shag Point to the mouth of the Mataura River; on the North-west by Lake County; on the West and South-west by the Mataura River; and on the North, North-west, and North-east by the Counties of Westland and Waitaki.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Mount Eden Road Board, County of Eden.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Mount Eden Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

MOUNT EDEN WATER-SUPPLY SPECIAL DISTRICT.
RESULT of the poll, taken the 26th September, 1887, on the following proposals: Proposal to obtain a loan under the provisions of the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886, to provide a water-supply for special district, as gazetted the 2nd June, 1887:—

Subsection 1. To provide a water-supply for the district.
Subsection 2. The sum proposed to be borrowed is £7,500; cost of raising loan or interest for one year during construction not to be paid out of loan.
Subsection 3. A special annual-recurring rate of three-eighths of a penny in the pound on the rateable value of the property in the special district to be supplied with water.

Number of ratepayers on the special rate-roll, 527; representing 608 votes. Number of ratepayers who voted, 365. Number of votes recorded for the proposals, 424; against, 12; informal, 2: total, 438.

There being more than one-half of the ratepayers who voted, and a majority of 120 votes more than the half of the whole number which could have been exercised by the whole of the ratepayers, the proposals are declared as carried; and the Board will proceed with the proposals and work accordingly.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Taradale Town District, County of Hawke’s Bay.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Taradale Town Board, is published in accordance with “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

Taradale, 7th October, 1887.

SIR,—In accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loan Act, 1886,” I enclose the result of poll taken at Taradale, on the 6th day of October, 1887, being in reference to a proposal of the Taradale Town Board to borrow from the New Zealand Government the sum of £600, of which sum application will be made for £300 for the present year and £300 for the following year, for the purposes set forth in the enclosed proposal.

RESULT OF POLL.

Number of ratepayers on roll, 128; number of votes on roll, 159. Votes recorded in favour of proposal, 118; votes recorded against proposal, 3; votes unrecorded, 38. Ratepayers voting in favour of proposal, 91; ratepayers voting against proposal, 3; ratepayers not voting, 34.

The number of ratepayers voting in favour of the proposal being a majority of the number on the roll, and entitled to more than one-half of the number of votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I declare the resolution duly carried; and respectfully request that you will be so good as to cause the foregoing result to be published in the New Zealand Gazette.
