Special Order made by Kaikoura County Council.—Making a Special Rate.

THE following special order, made by the Kaikoura County Council, is published for general information.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT a special rate of three-sixteenths of a penny in the pound be levied on all rateable property within the county, to secure the repayment of £150 annually on £3,000 to be borrowed from the Government under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886;” the said rate to be levied annually, and to be made payable on the 1st September in each year for twenty-six years, from the 1st September, 1887, to be paid in one sum at the office of the County Council until the said loan is repaid.

I hereby certify that the above special order was made on the 25th July, 1887, at a special meeting, and confirmed at a special meeting held on the 29th August, 1887.

Special Order made by the Eden Terrace Road Board, County of Eden.—By-laws.

THE following special order, made by the Eden Terrace Road Board, is published in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

RESOLVED, That the following additional by-laws be now passed and become part of the regular by-laws of the Eden Terrace Road District:—

  1. The Board shall issue licenses from time to time for the removal of nightsoil, also to approve of the night-carts and depot for the reception of the same; and no person shall be allowed to remove nightsoil from the district without a license from the Board.

  2. That no nightsoil be allowed to be buried in any yard, garden, or other place in the district unless the area of the allotment is not less than a sixth part of an acre, and all occupiers shall be compelled to use earth, ashes, or sawdust in their closet-boxes.

I hereby certify that the above special order was made in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

Application for Registration of Two Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that A. F. DE VEAUX, of Christchurch, in the Colony of New Zealand, Agent, has applied, on behalf of HORATIO DUNVILLE NELSON, ROBERT MOATE, AND GEORGE HENRY GREENWOOD, trading together as “Nelson, Moate, and Company,” at Christchurch aforesaid and elsewhere in the said Colony of New Zealand, as Tea Merchants, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks of which the following is a description:—

Description of Trade Mark No. 1.

A red or crimson triangle, bordered inside and outside by a black line; inside the triangle is shown a pagoda, and in each angle of the base a medal.

Description of Trade Mark No. 2.

The representation of a reproduction of the picture known as the “Willow Pattern,” enclosed in a rectangular and ornamental border, with a medal in each angle thereof, together with similar borders enclosing various inscriptions, the whole being printed in a certain shade of indigo-blue colour.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Marks shall apply.

Tea, and bags or other packages containing tea, and to show-cards and advertisements relating to tea.
