The Hastwell Village Homestead Special Settlement is situated on the main coach-road from Masterton to Eketa-huna, and adjacent to the Wi Waka section of the Wellington-Napier Railway, which is now in course of construction. It is about two miles from Mangamahoe, the present terminus of the railway, nine miles from Eketahuna, and twenty-one from Masterton. The area varies from flat to undulating, and, with the exception of a 20-acre clearing, is covered with dense bush, consisting of rimu, tawa, rata, tawhero, kahikatea, maire, miro, hinau, &c., some of which is suitable for saw-mill purposes. The soil varies from fair to good.

Forms of application and plans can be obtained at the principal post offices, Forty-mile Bush, and at this office, where full particulars can be obtained.
