Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby amend the Order in Council aforesaid so far as it affects the areas in which the land in the Fairlie Creek Village Settlement shall be held, and doth declare that, on and after the date hereof, any settler at present residing in the village settlement aforesaid may apply for and acquire additional land therein not exceeding four acres in extent in the whole; and it is hereby further declared that all the provisions of the Order in Council of the thirtieth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty, aforesaid shall apply, except as regards the area in which the sections may be held, to the village settlement in the Fairlie Creek Village Settlement aforesaid.

THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER FOR PUBLIC WORKS PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Order in Council issued on the thirtieth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty, under the authority of the twenty-first section of “The Land Act 1887 Amendment Act, 1879,” fixing the terms and conditions upon which certain village-settlement lands therein enumerated should be disposed of, it was provided that no person would be allowed to acquire more than one allotment in the Waimatamata Bush Village Settlement:

And whereas it is expedient to allow one person to hold not more than two allotments of one acre each:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby amend the Order in Council aforesaid so far as it affects the areas in which the land in the Waimatamata Bush Village Settlement shall be held, and doth declare that, on and after the date hereof, any settler at present residing in the village settlement aforesaid may apply for and acquire additional land therein not exceeding two acres in extent in the whole; and it is hereby further declared that all the provisions of the Order in Council of the thirtieth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and eighty, aforesaid, shall apply, except as regards the area in which the sections may be held, to the village settlement in the Waimatamata Bush Village Settlement aforesaid.

Regulation under “The Property Assessment Act, 1885.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of January, 1887.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER FOR PUBLIC WORKS PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him under “The Property Assessment Act, 1885,” the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the following regulations for the purposes of the said Act, that is to say,——

  1. The public notice directed to be given by section forty of the said Act shall, as regards every insurance company other than a life insurance company carrying on business within the colony, be in the form set forth hereunder, with such necessary additions from time to time as may be requisite to make the notice applicable to the year to which it relates; and every such notice shall be signed by the Property-tax Commissioner, and shall be published in some newspaper circulating in the locality where any such company to which such notice relates carries on business at least one calendar month before the date on which the required statement is to be furnished:——

“THE PROPERTY ASSESSMENT ACT, 1885.”

In accordance with the above Act, notice is hereby given that the 26th day of February, 1887, is the time, and my office, Government Buildings, Wellington, is the place, at which statements are to be furnished by or on behalf of every insurance company other than a life insurance company carrying on business within the colony, in accordance with the said Act, of all premiums received and of premiums actually paid in respect of re-insurances for the year ending the 31st December, 1886.

  1. The form of statement of premiums received, and of premiums paid, in respect of re-insurances required by the said Act to be made by every insurance company, other than a life insurance company, carrying on business within the colony, shall be that set forth hereunder, with such necessary additions from time to time as may be requisite to make the statement applicable to any particular company for any year to which such statement relates. Every such statement shall also be verified by the declaration of the public officer of the company in the form attached to the said statement, with such additions as aforesaid.

Authorizing the Union Steam Saw Moulding, Sash, and Door Company (Limited) to construct a Boom on the Tairua River.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of January, 1887.

THE HONOURABLE THE MINISTER FOR PUBLIC WORKS PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the sixteenth section of “The Harbours Act, 1878” (hereinafter called “the said Act”), it is enacted that, in any harbour where no Harbour Board is in existence, the Governor in Council may authorize any person to construct harbour works (other than the reclamation of land from the sea, or any harbour, or the construction of any graving-dock, dock, or breakwater in any harbour or in the sea), and to use and occupy such part of the foreshore, or of any tidal land or tidal waters, as may be necessary for the construction or use of such harbour works in any harbour where no Harbour Board is in existence: And whereas by section thirteen of “The Timber-floating Act, 1884,” it is enacted that the laying-down of booms in navigable waters for the security of timber or other substances or materials shall be deemed to be a harbour work within the meaning of the said Act: And whereas the requisite preliminary notices have been given under “The Timber-floating Act, 1884:” And whereas by the seventeenth section of the said Act it is also enacted that every such Order in Council shall be made upon such terms and conditions as the Governor in Council thinks fit, and the rights thereby conferred shall only be granted for a limited period not exceeding in any case fourteen years, and may at any time be altered, modified, or revoked:
