NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, Patent Agent, has applied, on behalf of FAIRE BROTHER AND COMPANY, of Southampton Street, Leicester, in England, Manufacturers and Exporters, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:

The device of an elephant between the word “Jumbo” above and “Brand” beneath. Horizontally across the body of the elephant is the word “Elephant.”
Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

ATKINSON, of No. 24, Old Bond Street, in London, England, Perfumery and Fancy Soap Manufacturers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:
Description of Trade Mark.
The device of a shield-shaped outline:

Covered over its entire surface with a groundwork of microscopic manuscript letters forming the repeated name of “J. & E. Atkinson.”

Embracing within part of its upper, middle, and lower portions a twelve-sided figure, with a general groundwork of lace-like filigree, intersected by seven crossing bands of similar design, the whole bearing the words, running straight across, “prepared by J. & E. Atkinson, 24, Old Bond Street, London.”

Embracing a garland of flowers, extending at the outer edge of the shield-outline from the bottom and on either side of the twelve-sided figure, partially encircling it, and opening out and spreading over the unoccupied groundwork-space above it.
The right is claimed to use the said trade mark in any colour or combination of colours.
Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.
Perfumes for the handkerchief and toilet, perfumed pomatums, oils, and washes for the hair, toilet and shaving soaps (perfumed), toilet powders and waters, dentifrices, cosmetics, and all kinds of perfumery and toilet articles.

RESOLVED, That, to provide for the payment of interest and other annual charges on a loan of £600 for formation and drain on No. 1 Line, Kairanga, a special rate of five-eighths of a penny in the pound be levied on the rateable value of the following properties: Sections 1583, 1584, 1587, 1588, 1591 to 1596 inclusive, and parts Sections 1 to 14, Karere.

THE Bluff Harbour Board notify that the tidal signals will, in future, be made from the flagstaff on the top of the Bluff Hill. These signals are, as provided by clause 3 of the General Harbour Regulations for the Harbours of New Zealand,—
Flood-tide: Two balls vertical, at masthead, not less than 6ft. apart.
Last quarter-flood: Three balls vertical, at masthead, with not less than 6ft. between each.
Ebb-tide: One ball at masthead.
