Powers delegated to the Lincoln Domain Board under “The Public Domains Act, 1881.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of August, 1887.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Public Domains Act, 1881,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council, dated the thirteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, making delegation of certain powers in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like advice and consent, by this present order, delegate, but only with respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections five and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall be known as the Lincoln Public Domain Board, namely,–
JOHN WOLFE,
JOHN SCOTT BROWN,
JAMES DOHERTY,
CORNELIUS KELLEHER, and
CHARLES MCPHERSON
(herein referred to as “the Board”), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,–

The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the last Monday in each month, at seven o’clock p.m., at the School-room, Lincoln, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the twenty-ninth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the second Tuesday in January in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be Chairman of such meeting.

If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.

All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land situate in the Provincial District of Canterbury, being part of Rural Sections Nos. 884, 1712, 1880, and 2223 on the map of the Chief Surveyor, setting out and describing the rural lands in the Lincoln District thereof, and being that portion of the said sections bounded Northwardly by the Town Belt; Southwardly by the Town Belt; Eastwardly by Leinster Terrace; and Westwardly by Kildare Terrace: as shown on the sale-plan of the said sections setting out the Township of Lincoln, and deposited in the Deeds Registry Office at Christchurch as No. 21.

Native Land proposed to be taken on the Opaki Section of the Wellington–Napier Railway.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth day of June, 1887.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work authorised to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the Opaki Section of the Wellington–Napier Railway: And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and the amendments thereof, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the Opaki Section of the Wellington–Napier Railway shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land more particularly mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work authorised to be constructed by the Government, to wit, the Wellington–Napier Railway:
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners:
