NOTICE is hereby given that the lands enumerated hereunder will be open for application as a village homestead special settlement on perpetual lease, at this office, on and after Monday, the 14th February, 1887, upon the terms and conditions fixed by an Order in Council issued on the 1st September, 1886, and made under the 163rd section of “The Land Act, 1885.”

The Hastwell Village Homestead Special Settlement is situated on the main coach-road from Masterton to Eketahuna, and adjacent to the Wi Waka section of the Wellington-Napier Railway, which is now in course of construction. It is about two miles from Mangamahoe, the present terminus of the railway, nine miles from Eketahuna, and twenty-one from Masterton. The area varies from flat to undulating, and, with the exception of a 20-acre clearing, is covered with dense bush, consisting of rimu, tawa, rata, tawhero, kahikatea, maire, miro, hinau, &c., some of which is suitable for saw-mill purposes. The soil varies from fair to good.
Forms of application and plans can be obtained at the principal post offices, Forty-mile Bush, and at this office, where full particulars can be obtained.

Perpetual Lease of Crown Lands, under Section 143 of “The Land Act, 1885.”

WRITTEN tenders, under sealed covers, will be received for the perpetual lease of the under-mentioned section, under Part IV. of “The Land Act, 1885,” up to 10 a.m. on Thursday, the 27th January, 1887, addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, and indorsed “Tender for Perpetual Lease of Section 35752, Ashburton Survey District.” Every tender must be accompanied by a declaration, six months’ rent, and a fee of £1 10s.
Should there be two or more tenders of the same amount for this section, the right to occupy will be decided by lot. The tenders will be opened at the meeting of the Land Board on the 27th January, 1887:—

IT is hereby notified that the under-mentioned Crown lands are open for lease for a term of thirty years, with the right of renewal for a further term of twenty-one years, and that applications will be received on Saturday, the 22nd January, 1887, for the said leases, at the Land Office, Christchurch, and also by Mr. March, at the Road Board Office, Sheffield, on Friday, the 21st January next. The applications received by Mr. March will bear the same date as those received at the Land Office, Christchurch:—
