A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the one hundred and sixty-sixth
section of "The Land Act, 1885," I, William Francis Drum-
mond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
do hereby set apart the land described in the Schedule
hereto for sale as a village settlement, upon such terms and
conditions as are to be set forth in an Order in Council to
be made under the one hundred and sixty-seventh section of
the said Act.

Kermadec Islands declared to be Part of New Zealand.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by certain Letters Patent passed under the
Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Ireland, and bearing date the eighteenth day of January,
in the fiftieth year of the reign of Her Majesty Victoria, by
the grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain
and Ireland Queen, Defender of the Faith, Empress of
India, after reciting, among other things, that certain
islands belonging to Her said Majesty, situated in the South
Pacific Ocean, between the parallels of twenty-nine degrees
and thirty-two degrees south latitude, and the meridians
of one hundred and seventy-seven degrees and one hundred
and eighty degrees west longitude, and commonly known
as the Kermadec Group, should be annexed to and form
part of the Colony of New Zealand, Her said Majesty did
authorise the Governor for the time being of the said colony,
by Proclamation under his hand and the Public Seal of the
said colony, to declare that, from and after a day to be
therein mentioned, the said islands should be annexed to
and form part of the said colony; and by the now-reciting
Letters Patent the said Governor was directed not to issue
any such Proclamation as aforesaid unless the Legislature of
the said Colony of New Zealand should have passed a law
providing that the said islands should, on the day aforesaid,
become part of the said colony, and subject to the laws in
force therein:
And whereas on the sixth day of June now last past the
Legislature of the Colony of New Zealand passed a law, the
Short Title whereof is "The Kermadec Islands Act, 1887,"
providing that, from and after a day mentioned in a Pro-
clamation to be issued by the Governor pursuant to the
authority contained in the hereinbefore in part recited
Letters Patent, the said group of islands, situated in the
South Pacific Ocean and commonly known as the Kermadec
Group, should become part of the Colony of New Zealand,
subject to the laws in force therein: And whereas it is ex-
pedient that effect should be given to the said hereinbefore
in part recited Letters Patent and to the said Act, as and in
manner hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me
by the hereinbefore in part recited Letters Patent, do, by
this Proclamation under my hand and the Public Seal of the
said colony, declare that, from and after the first day of
August next, the said group of islands, situated in the
South Pacific Ocean and commonly known as the Kermadec
Group, shall be annexed to and form part of the Colony of
New Zealand.

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the one hundred and thirty-fifth
section of "The Land Act, 1885," and of every other power
and authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said colony, doth hereby declare that the sections of land
enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be set apart for
lease, with right of renewal, under the provisions of Part
IV. of "The Land Act, 1885."
