THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the
Kaikoura County Council, is published in accordance
with "The Local Bodies Loans' Act, 1886."

COUNTY OF KAIKOURA.
NOTICE is hereby given that the result of the polls taken on
the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th days of June instant, in the respec-
tive ridings of the County of Kaikoura, under "The Local
Bodies Loans' Act, 1886," and "The Government Loans to
Local Bodies Act, 1886," on the proposal of the Kaikoura
County Council to borrow the sum of £3,000 for various road
purposes, as per published schedule, was as follows:—
Votes for the proposal .. .. .. 122
Votes against the proposal .. .. 1
Votes unrecorded .. .. .. 72
Total number of votes on the roll, 195.
As a majority of the total number of ratepayers voted in
favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled
to more than half the number of votes which can be exercised
by the whole number of ratepayers qualified to vote, I hereby
declare the said proposal carried.

THE following special orders, made by the Kaikoura
County Council, are published for general information.

SPECIAL ORDERS.
(1.) THAT the provisions of "The Government Loans to
Local Bodies Act, 1886," be adopted generally, to take effect
from the date of its adoption. (2.) That "The Local Bodies'
Loans Act, 1886," be adopted generally from the date of
special order.
I hereby certify that the above resolutions were adopted
by special order, in accordance with law, and that the said
resolutions were passed at a special meeting of the Kaikoura
County Council, on the 24th day of November, 1886.

THAT a special rate of three-sixteenths of a penny in the
pound be struck, by special order, on all rateable property in
the county, Crown and Native lands excepted, to secure the
repayment of £150 annually on £3,000, to be borrowed from
Government under the provisions of "The Government Loans
to Local Bodies Act, 1886," and "The Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1886." The rate to be an annually-recurring rate.
I hereby certify that the above special order was made,
in accordance with law, at a special meeting of the Kaikoura
County Council, on the 13th day of April, 1887.

Wirokino Road Board, is published in accordance with
"The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

NOTICE is hereby given that the result of the poll taken
under "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," in the Wirokino
Road District, Horowhenua County, on Saturday, the 18th
June, 1887, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £3,000 for
the construction of a bridge across the Manawatu River,
at the Wirokino Ferry, in conjunction with the Manawatu
County, is as follows:—
Total number of ratepayers on roll, 18 ; repre-
senting 41 votes.
Votes recorded for the proposal .. .. 26
Number of ratepayers voting for the pro-
posal .. .. .. .. 13
Number of ratepayers voting against the
proposal .. .. .. Nil.

As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour
of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to
more than one-half of the votes which can be exercised by

Arrangements for First Elections, &c., Borough of Woodville.

point
GEORGE MOORE, Esq.,
to be Town Clerk of the Borough of Woodville, as constituted
under "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886," and also to
be Returning Officer to conduct the first elections of the
Mayor and of nine Councillors of the said borough; also to
appoint Wednesday, the 27th day of July, 1887, to be the
day for holding the first election of Mayor, and Thursday,
the 28th day of July, 1887, to be the day for holding the first
election of nine Councillors, of the said borough; also to
appoint Monday, the 1st day of August, 1887, at noon, to
be the time, and the Town Board Office, Woodville, to be the
place, at which the first meeting of the Woodville Borough
Council shall be held.

THE following special orders (2), made by the Spring
Grove Road Board, are published in accordance with
"The Road Boards Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDERS.

THAT a special rate of three-fourths of a penny in the pound
be made and levied on the under-mentioned sections, being
portions of the Spring Grove and Stoke Road Districts, and
that the area affected be constituted a special district, to be
described as the Roding District, for the purpose of providing
funds for the payment of interest and sinking fund on a
sum to be obtained under "The Government Loans to Local
Bodies' Act, 1886;" the said rate to be an annual-recurring
rate until the loan is paid off—viz.: Sections 1, 1 of B1, 2 of
B1, 22, 23, XIV., 21, VIII., 32, 25, 24, 70, 78, 79, 80, 81, 1 of
4, 2 of 4, 4, 10 of 1, 25, 74, 75, part Sections 72, 28. -
That this Board bring "The Government Loans to
Local Bodies Act, 1886," into operation in connection with
the above-described special district, for the purpose of raising
a loan for constructing a cart-bridge across the Wairoa
River, near its junction with the Roding River. That the
cost is estimated at £450, including interest for one year
during construction of the said work.
I hereby certify that the above special orders were duly
made by the Spring Grove Road Board on the 14th day of
March, 1887.

Approving and appointing a Bonding Warehouse.
CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this
purpose vested by "The Customs Laws Consolidation
Act, 1882," I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do
hereby approve and appoint the under-mentioned warehouse
to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under bond,
namely,—
