THE following special order, made by the Clive Road
Board, is published in accordance with "The Road
Boards Act, 1882."

SIR,—I am instructed by the Clive Road Board to forward
you the under-mentioned special order, passed at a special
meeting of the Clive Road Board, on the 4th day of May,
1887, and confirmed at a special meeting, held on the 6th
day of June, 1887.
SPECIAL ORDER.
That, for the purpose of securing the interest and sinking
fund upon a loan of £3,000 to be borrowed by the Clive Road
Board under the provisions of "The Government Loans to
Local Bodies Act, 1886," for defraying the expense of con-
structing a road from the Tukituki Bridge to Mr. Loughnan's
Tukituki Station, a special rate of three-tenths of a penny
in the pound be made and levied upon all that portion of
the Clive Riding of the County of Hawke's Bay, containing
28,338 acres or thereabouts, and comprising the Clifton,
Grange, and Tukituki estates, and Sections 216 and 236,
Clive, being the Tukituki Ward of the Clive Road Board
District; such special rate to be an annually-recurring rate
for the period of twenty-six years from the 1st February,
1887, and shall be payable annually in advance on the
first day of February in each year.

Special Order made by Selwyn County Council.—Altering
Ridings, &c.

THE following special order, made by the Selwyn
County Council, is published in accordance with
"The Counties Act, 1886."

SPECIAL ORDER.
WHEREAS by the forty-fourth section of "The Counties Act,
1886," it is provided that the Council, by special order, may
at any time, for the purposes of adjustment of representa-
tion in the Council, when the same is authorized and other-
wise, from time to time alter the number of ridings within
the county, and the names and boundaries thereof, or of any
of them: And whereas by the forty-sixth section of the
said Act it is provided that the Council shall, on some day
in March preceding the expiration of the term of office of
the Councillors, hold a meeting for the purpose of considering
whether the representation of the different ridings requires
readjustment; and if it be found that, taking into considera-
tion the number of ratepayers and rateable value, the repre-
sentation of any riding or ridings is insufficient, shall alter
the representation in such way that the representation of
the separate ridings may, as far as possible, be proportioned
to the rateable value and number of ratepayers of each
riding respectively: And whereas the Council, having met
in pursuance of the said Act, and having considered the
question of the representation of the different ridings in the
said county, have determined that the same requires re-
adjustment, and have also determined, for the purpose of
adjusting the same, to alter the number of the ridings
within the said county, and the names and boundaries
thereof, to the extent and in the manner which is hereinafter
mentioned:
Now, therefore, the Council of the County of Selwyn, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers for that purpose con-
ferred on it by "The Counties Act, 1886," and of every
other power and authority in anywise enabling it in that

behalf, and for the purposes of adjustment of the representa-
tion of the different ridings in the said Council, doth hereby
order, ordain, and declare that the ridings hereinafter
mentioned, as the same are at present constituted and
existing within the said county, shall be and the same are
hereby altered to the extent and in the manner hereinafter
mentioned, that is to say,—
The Avon Riding shall from henceforth consist of the
Avon Road District.
The Heathcote Riding shall from henceforth consist of the
Heathcote Road District and of the Linwood Town District,
the Woolston Town District, and the Sumner Town District.
The Malvern Riding shall from henceforth consist of the
Malvern Road District, the East Malvern Road District, the
South Malvern Road District, and the Upper Waimakariri
Road District.
And doth hereby further order, ordain, and declare that
the following new ridings shall be and the same are hereby
constituted, and shall respectively consist of and comprise
the road districts hereinafter mentioned, respectively, that
is to say,—
The Riccarton Riding shall from henceforth consist of the
Riccarton Road District and the Templeton Road District.
The Halswell Riding shall from henceforth consist of the
Spreydon Road District, the Halswell Road District, and the
Taitapu Road District.
And doth hereby further order, ordain, and declare that
the Upper Waimakariri Riding as at present constituted
shall be and the same is hereby abolished.
And doth hereby further order, ordain, and declare that
this special order shall take effect from and after the
gazetting thereof.
Made at a special meeting of the Council of the County of
Selwyn held at the offices of the said Council, in the City of
Christchurch, the 26th day of April, 1887, and confirmed at
a meeting of the said Council held this 31st day of May,
1887.

Masterton Road District is published in accord-
ance with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

The following is the result of a poll, taken on the 9th current,
on the proposal to borrow the sum of £50, under "The
Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the
purpose of forming a portion of the Upper Fernridge
Road:—
Number of votes exercisable, 2.
For proposal : : : : : 2
Against proposal : : : : : Nil.
As the number of votes exercisable were given in favour of
the proposal, and none against it, I have declared the same
to be duly carried.

IT is hereby notified that bonuses under "The Fisheries
Encouragement Act, 1885," as set forth in the following
sections (Nos. 8, 9, and 10) of that Act, will be paid subject
to the conditions named therein, and in the regulations
contained in the Order in Council of even date herewith.
