Application for Registration of Eight Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that ROBERT C. LAW, of 13, Albion Street, Great Bridgewater Street, Manchester, England, Agent for the Registration of English, Foreign, and Colonial Trade Marks, has applied, on behalf of Messrs. RYLANDS AND SONS, LIMITED, of New High Street, Manchester, England, Manufacturers and Merchants, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks of which the following is a description, viz.:—

Description of Trade Mark No. 1.
A representation of a man holding a scythe and standing on a heraldic wreath.

Description of Trade Mark No 2.
A representation of a man holding a scythe, having the words “not the last” beneath his feet, all within a garter bearing the words “Rylands & Sons, Limited,” beneath a ribbon bearing the words “Sole proprietors,” the whole surrounded by the words “Manufactured and bleached by” above, and “The Dacca Twist Co.” below; and will in use be varied by the omission of the words “and bleached.”

Description of Trade Mark No. 3.
A representation of a collared and chained passant lion standing on a heraldic wreath, and holding in its right paw an archer’s bow, all between two ribbons: one above bearing the word “warranted,” and one below bearing the words “Fast Colour;” the whole beneath a tablet bearing the name “James Bowers;” and will in use be varied by the omission of the words “warranted” and “Fast Colour.”

Description of Trade Mark No. 4.
A representation of a soldier, hoisting, by means of a cord, the British Royal standard on a flagstaff.

Description of Trade Mark No. 5.
A representation of a bouquet of lilies of the valley beneath the words “Pure as,” and above the words “the lily,” and will in use be varied by the omission of the words “Pure as.”

Description of Trade Mark No. 6.
The word “Dacca.”

Description of Trade Mark No. 7.
A representation of an open book bearing the words “The Times” between another open book on the left, bearing the words “times past,” and a third closed book on the right having a scythe-blade inserted between the leaves and bearing the words “future times;” the whole intermingled with an oak-spray on the left and a laurel-spray on the right, and surmounted by a square-framed clock.

Description of Trade Mark No. 8.
A quadrangular upright ticket containing the words “This piece is guaranteed to be the length marked, 36 inches to the yard; and, for convenience, a ticket will be found at intervals denoting the length still remaining after the piece is cut. See sketch,” beneath a view of Heapey Bleach and Dye Works, and above a representation of a piece of cloth partially unrolled to show the ticket at intervals.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended Trade Marks Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 are to apply.
Spun and woven cotton, silk, flax, woollen or hemp goods (alone or in combination), clothing, umbrellas, carpets, floor-coverings, domestic furniture, ornaments, utensils, and sewing-machines.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended Trade Mark No. 8 is to apply.

Special Order made by Waipawa County Council.—Adjusting Boundaries of Ridings, &c.

THE following special order, made by the Waipawa County Council, is published in accordance with “The Counties Act, 1886.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

RESOLVED, That it be a special order of this Council that the number of ridings be altered to seven, with the following names and boundaries:—

Waipawa Riding.—All that area in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay bounded towards the North by the Hawke’s Bay County; towards the East by the Patangata County; towards the South by the centre of the Waipawa River to its junction with the Makaroroa River; thence up that river to the boundary of the Hawke’s Bay County:

Ruataniwha Riding.—All that area in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay bounded towards the North-east by the Hawke’s Bay County and the Waipawa Riding, hereinbefore described; thence towards the South-east by the road from Waipawa to Waipukurau to the south bank of the Tukituki River; thence along the southern bank of the aforesaid river in a westerly direction to the junction of the Tukituki and Makaretu Rivers; thence in a southerly direction by the Makaretu River to its junction with the Mahara-keke Stream; thence in a southerly direction by the Mahara-keke Stream to the south-west corner of Block XLVIII., Takapau Survey District; thence in a southerly and westerly direction by Blocks LXX., LXXXIII., and LXV., Takapau Survey District, to the Waikopiro Stream; thence in a westerly direction by the Waikopiro Stream to the south-western corner of Block LXIX., Takapau Survey District; thence in a northerly and westerly direction by the Whenuahou and Otawhao Native Blocks to the Makaretu River; thence along that river in a westerly direction to the county boundary; and thence in a north-westerly direction by the county boundary to the place of commencement:

Waipukurau Riding.—All that area in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay bounded towards the North-east by the Waipawa Riding, hereinbefore described, and the Patangata County; thence south-easterly by the Patangata County to the junction of the Tauraekaitai and Whatatuna Streams; thence in a westerly direction by the Whatatuna Stream, Native land, and Mangapurakau and Waikopiro Streams to the south-east corner of Block LXIX., Takapau Survey District; thence in a north-westerly direction by the Rua-
