Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, County of Piako.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the
Piako County Council, is published in accordance
with "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

Cambridge, 25th April, 1887.

SIR,—I have the honour, in accordance with section 199 of
"The Counties Act, 1886," to inform you that a poll of rate-
payers of the Patetere Riding of the Piako County was taken
at Lichfield, on Wednesday, the 20th instant, for the pur-
pose of determining whether or not the Piako County Coun-
cil should proceed with its proposal to borrow, under the
provisions of "The Government Loans to Local Bodies
Act, 1886," the sum of £1,500 for public works within the
said riding, and that the said poll resulted as follows:—
Total number of votes polled, 5.
For the proposal .. .. .. 5
Against the proposal .. .. .. Nil.
Informal .. .. .. .. Nil.
And that I have declared the resolution in favour of the
proposal to be carried.

In the matter of the proposal of the Piako County Council
to raise a special loan.
I, William Louis Campbell Williams, of Cambridge, in
the Provincial District of Auckland, in the Colony of
New Zealand, Chairman of the Piako County Council, do
solemnly and sincerely declare—

  1. That the said Piako County Council did, by resolution,
    propose to borrow, under the provisions of "The Govern-
    ment Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," the sum of £1,500
    for the purpose of undertaking certain public works within
    the Patetere Riding of the said county.
  2. That all proceedings required by "The Counties Act,
    1886," to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of
    the ratepayers to the proposal have been duly taken, and
    that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been
    carried.
    And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously
    believing the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the
    General Assembly of New Zealand intituled "The Justices
    of the Peace Act, 1882."

Amended Special Order made by Taratahi-Carterton Road
Board, County of Wairarapa South.

THE following special order, made by the Taratahi-
Carterton Road Board, is published in accordance with
"The Road Boards Act, 1882."

SPECIAL ORDER passed by the Taratahi-Carterton Road
Board on the 23rd April, 1887, in Amendment of a
Special Order passed by the said Board on the 19th
February, 1887.

THAT, for the purpose of securing payment of the debentures
or instalments on a loan of £400 granted to this Board by
the Government under "The Government Loans to Local
Bodies Act, 1886," a special rate of twenty-one thirty-eighths
of a penny in the pound be now made and levied upon the
properties contained and situate in the Somerset Road Special
Rating District, as such has been defined in a special order
passed by this Board on the 19th February, 1887, and pub-
lished in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 13, of the 3rd March,
1887; such special rate to be payable in two equal half-yearly
instalments for twenty-six years, commencing with the pre-
sent year, 1887, on the first Saturday in the months of January
and July of each such year, excepting the present year, 1887,
in which the said instalments shall be payable on the first
Saturday in the months of May and July respectively; and
that the Treasurer of this Board for the time being be ap-
pointed and authorised to collect the said special rate, and the
Chairman of the Board and Members Booth and Braithwaite
be appointed to sign and seal the special rate roll on behalf
of this Board.
That, for the purpose of securing payment of the deben-
tures or instalments of a loan of £150 granted to this Board
by the Government under "The Government Loans to Local
Bodies Act, 1886," a special rate of nineteen forty-eighths of
a penny in the pound be now made and levied upon the pro-
erties contained and situate in the Woodland Road Special
Rating District, as the same has been defined in a special
order passed by this Board on the 19th February, 1887, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 13, of the 3rd
March, 1887; such special rate to be payable and to be col-
lected, and such special rate roll to be signed and sealed, in
like manner as in the case of the Somerset Road Special
Rating District.
That, for the purpose of securing payment of the deben-
tures or instalments on a loan of £50 granted to this Board
by the Government under "The Government Loans to Local
Bodies Act, 1886," a special rate of seven-eighteenths of a
penny in the pound be now made and levied upon the pro-
erties contained and situate in the Opukairo Road Special
Rating District, as such has been defined in a special order
passed by this Board on the 19th February, 1887, and pub-
lished in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 13, of the 3rd March,
1887; such special rate to be payable and to be collected,
and such special rate roll to be signed and sealed, in like
manner as in the case of the Somerset Road Special Rating
District.
The above special order was duly passed by the Taratahi-
Carterton Road Board at a special meeting held the 23rd day
of April, 1887.
