IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF NEW ZEALAND.

In the matter of an intended Bill to enable the Phoenix
Assurance Company of London to sue and be sued in New
Zealand, and for other purposes connected therewith.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Phoenix Assurance
Company of London intends to present a petition to
the General Assembly of New Zealand, at its next session,
praying for leave to introduce a Bill to enable the said com-
pany to sue and be sued in New Zealand, and for other pur-
poses connected therewith.

And notice is hereby further given that copies of the said
intended Bill will be deposited in the office of the Examiner
of Private Bills on the 9th day of May next.

Dated at Wellington, this 23rd day of March, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty-seven.

NEW ZEALAND,) In the matter of a Bill intituled "The
to wit. } Wellington Gas Company (Limited) Ex-
tension Act, 1887."

NOTICE is hereby given that the Wellington Gas Com-
pany (Limited) intend to present a petition to the
General Assembly of New Zealand, at its next session,
praying for leave to introduce a Bill to be intituled "The Wellington
Gas Company (Limited) Extension Act, 1887." By the said
Bill it is intended to empower the Wellington Gas Company
(Limited) to extend the area of its operations so as to include
the Hutt and Petone Townships and Districts; and to acquire
the undertaking of the Hutt and Petone Gas Company
(Limited); and to amend "The Hutt and Petone Gas Com-
pany Act, 1886," by substituting the words "Wellington Gas
Company" for the words "Hutt and Petone Gas Company"
whenever they occur throughout the said Act, and by re-
pealing clause 47 of the said Act.

And notice is hereby given that copies of the said intended
Bill will be deposited in the office of the Examiner of Stand-
ing Orders on or before the commencement of the session.

In the matter of a Bill intituled "An Act to extend the
Powers of leasing Reserve No. 8, in the City of Christ-
church, vested in the Church Property Trustees of the
Diocese of Christchurch by the Church Property Trust
Amendment Ordinance, Session XI., No. 6, of the late
Superintendent and Provincial Council of Canterbury.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Church Property
Trustees of Canterbury intend to present a petition to
the General Assembly of New Zealand, at the ensuing
session thereof, praying for leave to introduce a Bill to be
intituled "An Act to extend the Powers of leasing Reserve
No. 8, in the City of Christchurch, vested in the Church
Property Trustees of the Diocese of Christchurch by the
Church Property Trust Amendment Ordinance, Session XI.,
No. 6, of the late Superintendent and Provincial Council of
Canterbury." By the said Bill it is intended to empower
the said Trustees to lease the said Reserve No. 8 for any
term not exceeding ninety-nine years, and to confer upon
the said Trustees powers to make agreements with lessees in
respect of the said reserve, for the value of improvements
thereon, and for redeeming the same, similar to the powers
contained in section 6 of "The Otago Presbyterian Church
Board of Property Amendment Act, 1884."

Copies of the said Bill will be deposited at the office of the
Examiner of Standing Orders on or before the commence-
ment of the session, and may also be had upon application
to Messrs. Bell, Gully, and Izard, Solicitors, Wellington, or
to the undersigned.

to wit. } Wesleyan Methodist Trust Deed Em-
powering Bill."

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended to present a
petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand, at
its next session, praying for leave to introduce a Bill to be
intituled "The Wesleyan Methodist Trust Deed Empowering
Bill." The objects of which are—(a.) To vest all lands, here-
ditaments, and other estate held by Trustees for and on be-
half of "the people called Methodists," otherwise known as
the Wesleyan Methodist Church, under a deed-poll or model-

deed bearing date the thirty-first day of October, 1856, duly
enrolled in the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Auckland,
and all lands, hereditaments, and other estate hereafter to be
acquired or obtained by or vested in Trustees for and on be-
half or in trust for "the people called Methodists," otherwise
known as the Wesleyan Methodist Church, in such Trustees,
upon the trust, and for the ends, intents, and purposes, and
with, under, and subject to the provisoes, declarations, and
agreements, mentioned and specified in a deed-poll, which it
is intended to set out in a Schedule to such Bill. (b.) To
provide for the appointment from time to time of new Trus-
tees to and for the said lands, hereditaments, and premises.
Copies of the said Bill will be deposited in the office of the
Examiner of Standing Orders at or before the commence-
ment of the session.

Dated this twenty-third day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-seven.

AUCKLAND AGRICULTURAL AND MERCANTILE
COMPANY (LIMITED).

NOTICE is hereby given that, at an extraordinary general
meeting of the Shareholders of the company, held at
their office Nos. 9 and 11, Queen Street, Auckland, on
Monday, the 14th day of February, 1887, at 12 o'clock noon,
the following special resolutions were unanimously passed:—

  1. "That the Auckland Agricultural and Mercantile Com-
    pany (Limited) be wound up voluntarily."
  2. "That the action of the Directors, in selling the stock-
    in-trade of the company to Mr. G. W. Owen, be and the same
    is hereby ratified and confirmed."
  3. "That Alexander Dewar and Arthur Heather be ap-
    pointed Liquidators."

Notice is also given that, at an extraordinary general meet-
ing of the Shareholders of the company, held at their office,
Nos. 9 and 11, Queen Street, Auckland, on Tuesday, the 1st
day of March, 1887, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the above
resolutions were ratified and confirmed by a unanimous vote ;
and at the last-mentioned meeting the following resolution
was also passed:—
"That the remuneration of the Liquidators be as fol-
lows: That Alexander Dewar receive the sum of £300; that
Arthur Heather receive 1 per cent. on all moneys collected ;
and that they have clerical assistance for two months."

IN THE SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND,
CANTERBURY DISTRICT.

In the matter of "The Commissioners of the Supreme
Court Act, 1875," and in the matter of an application
by Henry Shuttleworth Gannon.

NOTICE is hereby given that, by appointment under the
hand of Alexander James Johnston, a Judge at
Christchurch of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, bearing
date the 18th day of March, 1887, HENRY SHUTTLEWORTH
GANNON, of Goulburn, New South Wales, Solicitor, was ap-
pointed a Commissioner of the Supreme Court of New Zea-
land in New South Wales for the purpose of taking all such
oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in the said Act are
mentioned.

In the matter of the Te Aro Theatre and Opera House
Company (Limited), and in the matter of "The Companies
Act, 1882."

At an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named
company, duly convened and held at the social room of
the Opera House, on Wednesday, the 16th day of February,
1887, the following special resolution was duly passed ; and
at a subsequent extraordinary general meeting of the mem-
bers of the said company, also duly convened and held at the
Chamber of Commerce, Wellington, on Friday, the 4th day
of March, 1887, the following resolution was duly confirmed,
viz.:—
"That the company be wound up voluntarily, under the
provisions of 'The Companies Act, 1882.'"

And at such last-mentioned meeting JAMES McDOWELL,
of Wellington, Draper, and SAMUEL GILMER, of Wellington,
Licensed Victualler, were appointed Liquidators for the pur-
poses of the winding-up.

Dated this 15th day of March, 1887.
