Description of Trade Mark.
An eight-pointed star in white on a dark-blue or indigo ground, surrounded by a white circle, which in turn is surrounded by a circle in dark blue or indigo. On the white star are the words “Hall’s Southern Cross coarse grain sporting gunpowder for breech-loading cartridges,” and on the southern point of the star are four small stars in dark blue or indigo. On another label, but part of the trade mark, are the words “John Hall & Son” over “Faversham & London,” with “No. 6” in the centre, and “John Hall & Son” over “Faversham & London,” with “No. 5” in the centre.
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, on behalf of J. KRONHEIMER AND COMPANY, of No. 32, Queen Street, in the City of Melbourne and Colony of Victoria, Importers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks numbered one to three, of which the following is a description, viz. :
No. 1 consists of the device of a crown between the words “Golden Crown” above, and the representation of two cigars crossed below. On one of said cigars is the device of a crown above the letters “G.C.”
No. 2 consists of the device of a star in combination with the initial “D” on the left.
No. 3 consists of a label bearing the representation of the goddess of morning standing upright in a chariot which is being drawn through the air by three horses. In front of the horses is the figure of a woman with outspread arms holding a gauze scarf behind her. Above her head is a star and the word “Dawn,” and in front of her is a crescent moon. Behind the goddess is a rising sun.
Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Marks shall apply.
No. 1. Cigars.
Nos. 2 and 3. Manufactured tobacco, cigars, and cigarettes.

COPY OF RESOLUTION LEVYING SPECIAL RATE FOR INTEREST ON LOAN OF £800.
PROPOSED by Mr. James Hill, and seconded by Mr. William Peter Martin, and carried,—
“That this Board levy a special rate of ¾d. in the pound on all rateable property in the Smart and Egmont Roads Subdistrict, being part of the Egmont Road District, to pay interest on £800 proposed to be borrowed by the ratepayers of said subdistrict, in accordance with section 21, ‘Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.’”
I hereby certify that the above is a true copy of a special order duly passed by the Egmont Road Board on the 4th January, 1887; and the seal hereto affixed is the seal of the said Board.

At a poll of the ratepayers of that portion of the Waiuku Road District south of the northern boundary-lines of Lots 1, 2, 44, 45, 39, 38, 37, 77, 75, and 71, in the Parish of Waiuku East, including all that portion of the Village of Waiuku situated in the said district, taken to decide whether a sum of £150 should be borrowed, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of metalling Church Street, Waiuku,—
The number of votes on the roll was 44.
The number recorded in favour of the proposal was .. 29
The number recorded against the proposal was .. Nil.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.
And at a poll of the ratepayers of that portion of the Waiuku Road District between the above-mentioned boundary-lines and the northern boundary-lines of Lots 112, 154, 153, 152, 151, 150, 149, 148, 147, 146, 125, 122, and 114, in the parish aforesaid, taken to decide whether a sum of £150 should be borrowed, under the provisions of the aforesaid Act, for the purpose of metalling the remainder of the road from Saltwater Creek Bridge to the Racecourse gate,—
The number of votes on the roll was 48.
The number recorded in favour of the proposal was .. 31
The number recorded against the proposal was .. Nil.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.
