thereon coloured pink.

in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Dunedin, this eleventh day of
March, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-seven.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New
Zealand intituled “The Prisons Act, 1882,” it is
provided that the Governor may, by Proclamation published
in the New Zealand Gazette, declare that such police sta-
tions as he shall name therein shall be police gaols :
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the said colony, in pursuance of the above-
recited power, do hereby declare that the police station at
Herbertsville shall be a police gaol.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William

Saint George, Companion of the Most Honour-

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New
Zealand intituled “The Prisons Act, 1882,” it is
enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation published
in the New Zealand Gazette, declare that any prison or
police gaol shall no longer be a prison or police gaol, and,
upon the gazetting of such Proclamation, or from and after
any later date fixed in such Proclamation for the purpose,
such prison or police gaol respectively shall cease to be a
prison or police gaol :
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare that,
from and after the gazetting of this Proclamation, the police
gaol at Porangahau, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s
Bay, shall cease to be a police gaol.

Extending the Jurisdiction of the Native Land Court so as
to ascertain the Ownership of certain Lands in the North
Island.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this fourth
day of March, 1887.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the ownership of the lands mentioned in the
Schedule hereto requires to be ascertained, and it is
also necessary to determine to whom and in what manner
Crown grants, if any, or other evidence of title should be
issued in respect of the said lands: And whereas it is
expedient that the said several matters and the determination
of the titles to the said lands should be brought within the
jurisdiction of the Native Land Court, in order that the same
may be finally decided and dealt with :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and
authorities conferred upon him by “The Native Land Court
Act, 1886” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and acting
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the
investigation and determination of the ownership of the
Native lands described in the Schedule hereto, and also the
determination and individualization of titles to the said
lands and mode of granting the same as aforesaid, and all
matters incidental thereto respectively, shall be and the
same are hereby brought within the jurisdiction of the Native
Land Court established under the said Act.
And it is hereby further declared that this order shall take
effect as from the fourth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-seven.
