A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the one hundred and thirty-fifth
section of "The Land Act, 1885," and of every other power
and authority enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, doth hereby declare that the sections of land enume-
rated in the Schedule hereto shall be set apart for lease,
with right of renewal, under the provisions of Part IV. of
"The Land Act, 1885."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a Proclamation bearing date the twenty-
first day of December, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-six, certain land in the Provincial District of
Otago was declared to be a mining district within the mean-
ing of "The Mining Act, 1886," under the name of the Otago
Mining District: And whereas by the twenty-second sec-
tion of "The Mining Act, 1886," it is enacted that the
Governor may from time to time by Proclamation constitute
and appoint any portion of the colony to be a mining dis-
trict under the said Act, assign boundaries to such district,
and contract or otherwise alter such boundaries: And
whereas it is desirable and expedient to alter the boundaries
of the said mining district, so as to exclude therefrom the
Borough of Roxburgh as described in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 70, of the sixteenth day of August, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-seven:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by "The Mining Act,
1886," do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after
the first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-seven, the boundaries of the said Otago Mining Dis-
trict so constituted as aforesaid shall be those set forth in
the Schedule hereto: And doth hereby further declare that
the area included within such boundaries shall be known
by the local name of the Otago Mining District.

SCHEDULE.

All that area defined as the Otago Mining District in a
Proclamation dated the 21st December, 1886, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette of the 22nd December then
instant, excepting thereout the Borough of Roxburgh, which
said borough is bounded as follows, viz.:-
All that area in the Provincial District of Otago, in the
Colony of New Zealand, containing by admeasurement 482
acres, more or less. Bounded by a line commencing on the
west bank of the Clutha River, and proceeding due west
along the southern boundary of the Teviot District, 1000
links; thence in a northerly direction along the Dunedin
and Tuapeka Road, 1230 links; thence due west to the
western boundary of Section No. 33, Block II., Teviot Dis-
trict, 796 links; thence in a northerly direction along the
western boundary of the said Block II., 7460 links; thence
in a north-westerly direction along the south-western boun-
dary of that block, 5087 links; thence in a north-easterly
direction along the south-eastern boundary of Section No.
38 of the said Block II., and its continuation in the same
direction to the Clutha River, 1400 links; thence along that
river in a south-easterly direction, 8900 links; thence in a
southerly direction along the said Clutha River, 9100 links, to
the starting-point.

and St. George, Companion of the Most Honour-
