METEOROLOGICAL Observations, Wellington, for the month of October, 1886. Altitude above the sea, 140 feet. Observations taken at 9.30 a.m.

REMARKS.—On the whole a showery unpleasant month, with prevailing N.W. wind and frequently stormy. Maximum rain recorded on 5th, 1·60in. Thunder and vivid lightening on 25th. Maximum temperature in shade, 66·5°; minimum, 37°. Mean humidity, 80°. Mean temperature of dewpoint, 45·9°. Earthquakes on 11th at 4.12 p.m., slight, and on 13th about 8.30 p.m. very slight.
