Fixing Sittings of the Supreme Court in the Canterbury Judicial District.

WE, three of the Judges of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in us by “The Supreme Court Act, 1882,” hereby make the following rules respecting the places and times for holding sittings of the Supreme Court and sittings in Chambers, in the Judicial District of Canterbury, for the year 1887:—

Sittings for the trial of criminal cases will be held at the Supreme Courthouse, CHRISTCHURCH, to commence on the following days, at 11 a.m. :—

Tuesday, 4th January.
Monday, 4th April.
Monday, 4th July.
Monday, 3rd October.

Sittings for the trial of civil actions will be held at the Courthouse, CHRISTCHURCH, to commence on the following days, at 11 a.m. :—

Monday, 10th January.
Wednesday, 13th April.
Monday, 11th July.
Monday, 1st August.
Monday, 5th September.
Monday, 10th October.

The trial of causes under “The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, 1867,” may take place at any of the above-mentioned sittings for the trial of civil actions.

Sittings of the Court in Banco will be held at the Courthouse, CHRISTCHURCH, every Wednesday, except during vacation, or during the absence of the Judge, or unless the Judge is engaged on other business.

Sittings in Chambers will be held at the Judge’s Chambers in the Courthouse, CHRISTCHURCH, every Tuesday and Friday, except during vacation, or during the absence of the Judge, or unless the Judge is engaged on other business.

Sittings in Chambers at other times and in vacation, in respect of urgent business, may be held at such times and places as may suit the convenience of the Judge.

Sittings for the trial of criminal and civil cases, and of causes under “The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, 1867,” will be held at the Courthouse, TIMARU, to commence on the following days, at 11 a.m. :—

Tuesday, 19th April.
Tuesday, 16th August.
Tuesday, 13th December.

Business in Chambers may be disposed of in the course of these sittings, on such days and at such hours as the Judge may appoint.

Monday, 10th October.

Ross Township Lease cancelled.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 30th September, 1886.

It is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned Ross Township lease cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for :—

Rasmus Jacobsen ; Section 93, Township of Ross, Westland Mining District ; 7 perches.
