THE parcel of land mentioned hereunder :—

WHEREAS by the two hundred and twenty-seventh section of “The Land Act, 1885,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Land Districts of Auckland, Nelson, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified.


SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 20 acres, more or less, situate in the Manukau County, in the Provincial District of Auckland, being Allotment No. 235 of the Parish of Opaheke. Bounded towards the North-east by Allotment No. 218 of the said parish, 1140 links; towards the South-east by the said Allotment No. 218, 1640 links; towards the South by a stream; and towards the North-west by Allotment No. 124 of Section No. 3 of the said parish, the abuttal of a road, again by said Allotment No. 124 and by Allotment No. 218 aforesaid, 1984 links: be the said several admeasurements more or less. For a quarry.

NELSON.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Nelson, containing by admeasurement 3 acres, more or less, starting at a point on the Beach Road distant 3208 links from the south-western corner of Section No. 6, Block III., Barrytown; thence in a westerly direction along the said road, 600 links, and having a depth of 500 links. For a cemetery.

CANTERBURY.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 8 acres 3 roods, more or less, being Section No. 2724 (in red), situate in the Arowhenua Survey District. Bounded towards the East by the railway reserve; towards the South by the Temuka River; towards the West by the road-line west of Section No. 9460; and towards the North by that section: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For railway conservation purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 117 acres, more or less, being Section No. 2725 (in red), situate in the Arowhenua Survey District. Bounded towards the East by a line parallel to and 15 chains distant from the centre line of the railway; towards the South by Sections Nos. 4225 and 4226; towards the West by the continuation of the road-line west of Section No. 4226; and towards the North by Native Reserve No. 881 and Section No. 1541: save and excepting thereout the railway reserve, 3 chains wide, which intersects the area above described; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For railway conservation purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 3 roods 24 perches, more or less, being Section No. 2726 (in red), situate in the Halswell Survey District. Bounded towards the North by a road-line, 238 links; towards the East by the road-line west of Section No. 951, 1049 links; towards the south by the creek running through Section No. 4980; and towards the West by the road-line east of Section No. 4980, 950 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch. For a gravel-pit.

OTAGO.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Provincial District of Otago, containing by admeasurement 129 acres 2 roods 26 perches, more or less, situate in the Moeraki District, being Section No. 74 of Block IV. of the said district. Bounded towards the North-west by Sections Nos. 1 of 65, 2 of 65, and 3 of 65 of the same block, 4369·5 links; towards the North by Sections Nos. 1 of 66 and 2 of 66 of the same block, 2196 links; towards the South-east by Section No. 75 of the same block 1679 links, also by Section No. 72 of the same block 2500 links; towards the South-west by the said Section No. 72 2427 links, also by Sections Nos. 1 of 64, 2 of 64, and 1 of 63 of the same block 3015 links; and towards the West by Section No. 77 of the same block, 2548·3 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; and intersected by a road-line 50 links wide. For a recreation-ground.

SOUTHLAND.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 37 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 4, 5, and 6 of Block XX., on the map of the Town of Lowther. Bounded towards the North-east by Section No. 3 of the said block, 288·7 links; towards the South-east by main North Road, 600 links; towards the South-west by Section No. 7 of the said block, 204 links; and towards the North-west by a street-line, 606 links. For railway purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Sections Nos. 4, 6, 9, 10, and 11 of Block XXI., on the map of the Town of Lowther. Bounded towards the North-east by Sections Nos. 3 and 12 of the said block, 501·5 links; towards the South-east by Swansea Street, 600 links; towards the South-west by Sections Nos. 8 and 7 of the said block, 501·2 links; towards the North-west by main North Road, 200 links; again towards the North-east by Section No. 5 of the said block, 250 links; again towards the North-west by the said Section No. 5, 200 links; again towards the South-west by the said Section No. 5, 250 links; and again towards the North-west by the main North Road, 200 links. For railway purposes.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 13 acres 1 rood 36 perches, more or less, being Section No. 2, Block VII., on the map of the Township of Makarewa. Bounded on the North by Section No. 9 of the said block, 690 links; on the East by Section No. 1 of the said block, 1953·5 links; on the South by Flora Road, 690 links; and on the West by Section No. 3 of the said block, 1953·5 links. For a cemetery.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 10 perches, more or less, being Section No. 25, Block II., on the map of the Longwood District. Bounded towards the North-east by Crown lands, 405 links; towards the South-east by a road-line, 262 links; towards the South-west by Section No. 24 of the said block, 405 links; and towards the North-west by Crown lands, 262 links. For a site for a public library.
