• This land is situate at the back of the existing settlements near Featherston, and extends from the Tauherinikau River southwards. Road-lines have been laid off to give access to these lands, but have not been cleared or formed. The country varies from undulating to mountainous, the soil from poor to good; the forest consists generally of birch with mixed bush in places.

The land is situate on the south bank of the Tiraumea River, north-east of the Pahiatua Village Special Settlement, about six miles from Woodville. Access to the block can be obtained either by the river or by a felled and cleared road from the Mangatainoka Bridge. The country is flat and undulating, with hills at the back. The soil is good. The forest is principally tawa, with patches of kahikatea, &c., and the undergrowth consists of dense supplejacks, ramarama, &c.

This land is situate in the northern part of the Mangatainoka Block, about seven miles south of Woodville, within a short distance of the main coach-road to Masterton. Reserves have been made for one of the proposed lines of railway connecting Woodville and Masterton. Roads have been laid off from Pahiatua and from the Mangatainoka bridge, connected by a road through the centre of the block. The latter line is now being felled and cleared, and the Pahiatua line is being formed into a dray-road. The land is flat, undulating, and hilly country; the formation rests upon papa, gravel, and in one place upon limestone; the soil generally varies from fair to very good; the land is generally covered with mixed timber—pine, rata, tawa, &c.; there are patches of light open tawa, white-pine, swamp, manuka-scrub, and some totara in places; the undergrowth is generally thick.
