Special Order made by Waimea County Council.—Constituting Dovedale and Waimea Road Districts.

THE following special order, made by the Council of the County of Waimea, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.

I, the undersigned, Clerk of the Waimea County Council, hereby certify that the following resolution has been duly passed by the said Council, at their meeting held at Nelson on Wednesday, the 21st day of July, 1886, and that the requirements of the Acts have been duly complied with:—

That a special order be now made to dissolve the Waimea Road Board and constitute two new road districts.

That the first be named the Dovedale Road District; the Board to consist of six members; and that Mark Daniel Davies, of Dovedale, be Returning Officer; and that the election take place at the schoolroom, Dovedale, as soon as special order is gazetted.

And that the second be named the Waimea Road District; the Board to consist of five members; and that Eliab Baigent, of Wakefield, be Returning Officer; and that the election take place at the Temperance Hall, Wakefield, as soon as special order is gazetted.

Boundaries of the Dovedale Road District to embrace that part of the Waimea Road District on the north-west of a line drawn from the western boundary of Section No. 31 at its intersection with the boundary of the Upper Motueka Road District; thence in a north-eastern direction along the north-western boundaries of Sections Nos. 31, 32, 222, 40, 20, 21, 23, and 181 to Section No. 22; thence along the western boundaries of Sections Nos. 22, 185, 190, and 28 of Blocks XI. and VII. of the Wai-iti Survey District to the boundary of the Upper Moutere Road District.

The boundaries of the Waimea Road District to embrace all that part of the present Waimea Road District not absorbed by the proposed Dovedale District.

Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, on behalf of the WATERBURY WATCH COMPANY, of Connecticut and New York, in the United States of America, and also of Holborn Viaduct, London, in England, Watch Manufacturers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:—

Description of Trade Mark.

The device of a monogram, composed of the letters and abbreviation “W.W.Co.,” in combination with the name “Waterbury Watch Co.” above.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply

Watches and all other descriptions of horological instruments.

Making By-laws on New Zealand Railways (Greymouth Section).

I, EDWARD RICHARDSON, the Minister for Public Works, appointed under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” in pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the one hundred and forty-fourth section of the said Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby make the following by-laws for the regulation of traffic over the Brunner Bridge, on the Greymouth to Brunner Railway, being one of the railways open for traffic in the Colony of New Zealand, in addition to the by-laws dated the 25th October, 1882, and in substitution of those gazetted for the said bridge on the 20th September, 1883, that is to say,—

  1. No person shall cross, or attempt or commence to cross, the Brunner Railway Bridge at Brunnerton, now used for ordinary and railway traffic, when a truck or carriage is crossing or is commencing to cross such bridge, or after receiving a notice from the stationmaster or other officer in charge of the bridge that such truck or carriage is about to cross, or such crossing is attended with danger owing to the railway traffic then on or about to be on the said bridge.

  2. No person shall at any time drive or take across the said bridge any horses, sheep, pigs, or cattle without first obtaining the consent of the stationmaster, who shall at all times regulate such traffic.

  3. No person shall have any right to drive or take on, to, or across such bridge at any time any vehicles, horses, or live animals, but he may be permitted by the stationmaster to do so at such times as the bridge is unoccupied for railway traffic, provided such permission will not interfere with the apparatus or appliances for working the bridge, or injure or interfere with the structure of the said bridge, or interfere with the railway traffic in any way.

  4. Any person who shall commit a breach of these by-laws or any of them, or shall do any act which by these by-laws is directed not to be done by him, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £10 for each such breach or the doing of each such act as aforesaid.

Alterations to the Scale of Charges in force on the New Zealand Railways.

IN accordance with section 144 of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” I, Edward Richardson, the Minister for Public Works, do hereby make the following alterations in and additions to the scale of charges, to come into force from and after the 9th day of August, 1886:—

PART V.—CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS.

Earthenware, Native, packed, consigned direct from local factories, in lots of not less than 30cwt., half rate, Class B.

PART VI.—WHARVES.

PICON SECTION.

Goods of Class E for shipment from Picton, which have been previously carried over the Picton-Blenheim line, will be charged 1s. per ton.
