ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifth day of July, 1886.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the North Island Main Trunk Line of Railway, from a point at or near Marton to Te Awamutu, via Murimotu, Taumarunui, and the Ongaruhe River Valley (portion of Porewa Contract), shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

Notification of the Entry into Negotiations for the Purchase of Native Lands in the North Island.

IN pursuance of the provisions of “The Government Native Land Purchases Act, 1877,” it is hereby notified that negotiations by or on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen have been entered into for the purchase or acquisition of the blocks of Native land in the North Island which are more particularly described and mentioned in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
WAIKOPIRO BLOCK.
ALL that parcel of land situate in the Takapau and Mangatoro Survey Districts, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, known as the Waikopiro Block, containing about 26,400 acres. Bounded towards the North by the Waikopiro and Mangapurakau Streams, Block LXXXIII., Porongahau District, and the Whatatuna Stream; towards the East by the Wangai Stream; towards the South by the Mangapuaka and Tarereangarehu Streams; and towards the West and North-west by the Manawatu River to the starting-point.
PORONGAHAU-MANGAMAIRE BLOCK.
All that parcel of land situate in the Porongahau and Tautane Survey Districts, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, known as the Porongahau and Mangamaire Blocks, and containing about 42,718 acres. Bounded towards the North by the Porongahau River and a Native reserve; towards the East by the sea; towards the South by the Tautane Block; and towards the East and North-east by the Mangaorapa Stream to the starting-point.
MANAWAKAITOI BLOCK.
All that parcel of land situate in the Mangatoro Survey District, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, known as the Manawakaitoi Block, and containing about 58,000 acres. Bounded towards the North by the Tarereangarehu and Mangapuaka Streams, the Mangapuaka Block, and Blocks LXXVII., LXXIII., and LX., Porongahau District; towards the North-east by the Mangarara No. 3 and No. 2 Blocks; towards the East by the Mangaorapa and Manaawa-angiangi Blocks; towards the South by the Education Reserve and Crown lands; towards the South-west by the Mangatoro and Kopukokomiko Blocks; and towards the North-west by the Manawatu River to the starting-point.
PAPAMOA BLOCK.
All that parcel of land situate in the Tauranga, Te Tumu, and Maketu Survey Districts, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known as the Papamoa Block, containing by admeasurement 12,763 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the North-east by the sea; towards the South-east by Section No. 1, Block IV., Te Tumu Survey District, 25264 links, by the Hikutawatawa, Te Karamuramu, and Waitaha No. 1 Blocks, 12486 links, 11705 links, 11616 links, and 7698 links; towards the South-west, West, and North-west by the Otawa Block 13294 links, by the Kaiate and Waitao Streams, by portion of Tauranga Harbour, by the Mangatawa Reserve 10114 links, 2044 links, 5554 links, 10987 links, 1465 links, 1954 links, 2854 links, again by the Tauranga Harbour aforesaid and by the Wharawhara No. 1 Block 12577 links.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and after the date hereof, pukeko or pakura (Porphyrio melanotus) shall come within the operation of the said Act as fully and effectually as if they had been included in the Fourth Schedule thereto.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.
