ALTERATION IN POSITION OF LINE OF INNER LEADING
BEACONS AND LIGHTS, BURNETT HEADS.
NOTICE is hereby given that, in consequence of the growth
southwards of the North Spit, the position of the line of
leading marks and lights leading westward from the light-
house has been changed; the new line, which leads in a
W. by N. direction, being marked by day by triangular
beacons painted white, and by night by a white and a red
light placed to the southward of the pilot-station. This line
leads through the new cutting in 9 feet at low-water.

“THE Crown and Native Lands Rating Act, 1882,” and
the Amendment thereof.
To each and every the owner or owners of land described
in the substituted valuation rolls of Native lands supplied
to the local bodies, the names of which are set forth in
the Schedule hereunder, under the provisions of the above
Acts and all other Acts affecting the same or relating
thereto.
WHEREAS demand having been made to me, the under-
signed Colonial Treasurer of the Colony of New Zealand, in
accordance with the provisions of “The Crown and Native
Lands Rating Act, 1882,” by or on behalf of the said local
bodies, for payment of the rates appearing to be payable
under or by virtue of the said rolls :
Notice is hereby given to you and each and every of you
that rolls of Native lands are now deposited at the offices of
the said several local bodies, which said rolls are in the
Maori language, and show the rateable value of the Native
lands therein mentioned or described.
And you and each and every of you, the owners of the said
lands, are hereby required and directed to pay the said rates
on or before the 9th day of August, 1886, such payment to
be made by you at the office of the local body in whose dis-
trict the lands affected are respectively comprised, and as
noted in the said Schedule.

Alterations in the Scale of Charges in force on the New
Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with section 144 of “The Public Works
Act, 1882,” I, Edward Richardson, the Minister for
Public Works, do hereby make the following alterations in
the scale of charges for the purposes specified below, such
alteration to come into force from and after the 9th day of
August, 1886 :—
PART IV.—LOCAL RATES.
HURUNUI—BLUFF SECTION.—SEAWARD BUSH BRANCH.
Goods of Classes A, B, C, D.
One penny per ton per mile will be charged, in addition to
the classified rates, on goods of Classes A, B, C, D, on the
Invercargill—Seaward Bush Branch.
Lime from Local Lime-kilns.
Lime from local lime-kilns, consigned to country stations
for agricultural purposes or to ship for export, will be charged
as Class O for distances not exceeding thirty miles, and for
distances over thirty miles as Class P.
PART V.—CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS.
Fruit, fresh, packed, owners’ risk, D.
Sheep-racks, owners’ risk, special goods, C.
Trees, in packages, owners’ risk, C.

Notice under “The Native Land Laws Amendment Act,
1883.”
WHEREAS the estate and interest of Arekatera te Ra,
Piripi te Rawarihi, and Hinewai, aboriginal natives
of New Zealand, in the land described in the Schedule
hereto, is vested in Teraite Tonihu, as Trustee under the
provisions of “The Maori Real Estate Management Act,
1867,” and the several amendments thereof, subject to
certain restrictions on the alienation of such land, and ap-
plication has been made for the removal of such restric-
tions :
It is hereby notified that it is intended, immediately after
the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this
notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, to remove the said
restrictions on the alienation of the said land in respect of
the interests aforesaid, in order that the said land may be
leased by the said Trustee for a term of twenty-one years
from the 1st January, 1882.
Dated at Wellington, this ninth day of July, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-six.
