powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the North Island Main Trunk Line of Railway, from a point at or near Marton to Te Awamutu, via Murimotu, Taumarunui, and the Ongaruhe River Valley (portion of Porewa Contract), shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

Extending Time for holding Elections, &c., South Orari River District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of July, 1886.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by the twenty-seventh section of “The River Boards Act, 1884,” it is enacted that on the second Tuesday in January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, and on the same day in every third year thereafter, all the members of the Board shall go out of office and a general election of members shall take place:
And whereas, by misadventure, no election was held on the said second Tuesday in January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, to elect members to the South Orari River Board:
And whereas by the forty-third section of the said Act it is enacted, among other things, that the Governor, by Order in Council notified in the Gazette, may extend the time allowed for the holding of any election or meeting of the Board, whether the day may have passed on which the same ought to have been held or not:
And whereas it is expedient that the neglect to hold such election as aforesaid should be remedied:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the forty-third section of the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the time for holding the election of members of the South Orari River Board to the nineteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six; and I do hereby order and declare that such election shall take place at the South Orari Assembly Rooms; that William Wills shall be the Returning Officer to conduct such election; and that the first meeting of the said Board shall take place at Breadley’s Hotel, on Thursday, the twenty-sixth day of August next, at the hour of half-past seven o’clock post meridiem; and, lastly, that the provisions of “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876,” so far as applicable, shall extend to the election to be held hereunder.

Extending Season for killing Cock-pheasants in North Canterbury District.

WHEREAS by a warrant made under “The Animals Protection Act, 1882,” and the Acts amending the same, dated the sixteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the eighteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, it was notified, amongst other things, that cock-pheasants might be taken or killed within the North Canterbury District, from the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six: And whereas it is expedient to extend the time for taking or killing cock-pheasants within the said district:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said Animals Protection Acts, do hereby notify that cock-pheasants may be taken or killed within the said North Canterbury District until the thirty-first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-fourth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.

Vaccination Stations appointed, Christchurch, Wainui, and Hokitika Districts.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Public Health Act, 1876,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the several places mentioned in the second column of the Schedule hereto as and to be the places at which the Public Vaccinators appointed for the respective districts mentioned in the first column of the said Schedule shall attend for the performance of vaccination, as required by the said Act; and I do hereby give notice that each such Public Vaccinator will attend at the respective places aforesaid, for the purpose of performing such vaccination, on the days and at the hours set forth in the third column of the said Schedule opposite the name of each such place; and, further, that at each such place as last aforesaid the Public Vaccinator will attend, for the purpose of inspecting the progress of such vaccination in the persons so vaccinated, on the days and at the hours respectively set forth in the fourth column of the said Schedule opposite the name of each such place.
