NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT A WATER-RACE.

To the Warden and Mining Registrar at Reefton, in the Inangahua Mining District, and to all other persons whom it may concern.

I HEREBY give notice that I intend to construct a Water-race and divert water for the purpose of supplying the Government Buildings at Reefton with water, for the prevention of fire, and for other industrial pursuits: such race commencing in the Township of Reefton on the first creek which crosses William Street to the east of Bridge Street, and terminating in the Township of Reefton, at the reservoir on the terrace at the back of the Government Buildings, and about 60 feet above same.

The length of such race is three chains or thereabouts, and its intended course is from the commencing-point on the creek already mentioned, round the side of the hill, and along the terrace behind the Government Buildings, to the reservoir already mentioned.

The mean depth of such race is 1 foot 3 inches, and the mean breadth is 1 foot 9 inches, and it is proposed to divert four Government-heads of water.

The dimensions of the reservoir are 20 feet x 20 feet x 6 feet, and the situation of the by-wash is at the north end of the reservoir.

To the Warden at Cromwell of the Otago Goldfields Mining District, and all other persons whom it may concern.

TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a Water-race and divert water for all or any of the purposes mentioned in section 31 of “The Mines Act, 1877,” commencing in the Cardrona River, about one and a half miles above its junction with the Clutha River, and terminating at the Clutha River, at Albert Station freehold.

The length of such race is one and a quarter miles or thereabouts, and its intended course is north-north-east. The time required for its construction is one month, and the right is asked for fifteen years. The mean depth of such race is 1 foot 6 inches, and the mean breadth is 2 feet 6 inches, and it is proposed to divert four Government-heads of water.

Wakatipu District, 25th March, 1886.

To the Mining Registrar at Arrowtown of the Wakatipu Mining District, and all other persons whom it may concern.

TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a Water-race commencing in a point at Butler’s Creek, Cardrona Creek, taking in three small tributaries and swamp drainage, and terminating at our mineral-lease area, near the Cardrona Creek.

The length of such race is one mile or thereabouts, and its intended course is east and west; and we estimate that ninety days will be required for its construction.

The mean depth of such race is 2 feet.
The mean breadth is 2 feet.
It is proposed to divert four Government-heads of water.

} In the matter of a Bill intituled “The Hutt and Petone Gas Company (Limited) Act, 1886.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the Hutt and Petone Gas Company (Limited) intend to present a petition to the General Assembly of New Zealand at its next session, praying for leave to introduce a Bill to be intituled “The Hutt and Petone Gas Company (Limited) Act, 1886.” By the said Bill it is intended to take power in the said company authorizing it, under superintendence of the Hutt County Council and the Town Boards of the Petone and Hutt Townships respectively, or their respective officers, to break up streets and bridges in and through the Town Districts of Petone and the Hutt for a radius of five miles from each post office in Petone and the Hutt respectively, and to lay down and place pipes, conduits, and service-pipes, and to make and construct other works for supplying the Townships of Petone and the Hutt with gas. It is also intended by the said Bill to take powers to the said company to sue for the recovery of rents for gas supplied, and to impose penalties for the wilful destruction of the company’s property, and for the establishment and general management of gasworks in the said Townships of Petone and the Hutt respectively. It is also intended by the said Bill to give power to either of the Town Boards or other local bodies for the time being having jurisdiction over the said townships to purchase the works of the company, the terms of purchase being settled by arbitration. And it is notified that the limits within which the gasworks are intended to be erected or made are about three acres, situated in or near the Township of Petone aforesaid, being part of Section No. 6, Hutt District; bounded on the West by Section No. 5; on the South by a public road and sea-beach; and on the East and North by other parts of the said Section No. 6: and the termini of the works will be in and near the limits of each of the said townships, the pipes being carried through from one township to the other.

Copies of the said Bill, and any necessary plans, sections, books of reference, and notices respectively, will be deposited in the office of the Examiner of Standing Orders on or before the commencement of the session.
