At the Government House, at Wellington, this nineteenth day of January, 1886.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as the Gisborne-Opotiki Main Road deviation shall and may be constructed on or through the parcels of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order that the Government work known as construction of defence works at Ngahauranga, in Block XII., Belmont Survey District, Wellington Road District, shall and may be constructed on or through the parcel of land more particularly described in the Schedule hereto.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of January, 1886.

The Honourable the Premier presiding in Council.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, order that a road, having an average width of one hundred links, and extending from the Wharauroa Block, near Aotea Harbour, to and along the shore of the said harbour and over the land adjacent thereto, across the Peninsula to Kawhia Harbour, along the shore of Kawhia Harbour and the land adjacent thereto, easterly across the Oparau Stream past Hikurangi, and northerly down the left bank of the Makuraru Stream and the Waipa River past Whatiwhatihoe to Alexandra, shall be constructed on or through land held or occupied by Native owners.

Notification of the Entry into Negotiations for the Purchase of Native Lands in the North Island.

IN pursuance of the provisions of “The Government Native Land Purchases Act, 1877,” it is hereby notified that negotiations on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen for the purchase or acquisition of the block of Native land in the North Island which is more particularly described and mentioned in the Schedule hereto have been entered into.

ALL that parcel of land in the District of Thames, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known by the name of Wharekawa East No. 2, containing by admeasurement 6,921 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the East by the sea and the Wharekawa Harbour; towards the South by the Wharekawa East No. 1 Block, 20780 links; towards the West by the Wharekawa East No. 3 Block 515 and 402 links, and the Tairua Block 421, 251, 314, 1188, 1015, 1044, 1580, 393, 345, 229, 179, 186, 105, 758, 202, 533, 150, 266, 410, 200, 1002, 1815, 639, 1090, 171, 197, 502, 116, 374, 1145, 212, 245, 185, 185, 607, 452, 290, 612, 312, 365, 293, 157, 594, 392, 207, 357, 146, 293, 104, 1148, 508, 1075, 818, 333, 2860, 419, 631, 1306, 2380, 422, 194, 779, 1056, 407, 1424, 927, 503, 843, 1563, 500, 656, 541, 1075, 323, 680, 848, 567, 1515, 3560, 2168, and 996 links; and towards the North by the said block, 1884, 226, 654, and 1262 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Regulations under “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885.”

WHEREAS, in the opinion of His Excellency the Governor, no sufficient provision has been made by “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), with respect to the functions of united Boards constituted under the provisions of section thirty-four of the said Act, and with respect to other matters, and it appears expedient to make the regulations hereinafter contained:

Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, doth hereby make and prescribe the regulations hereinafter set forth for the purpose of facilitating or more effectively carrying into execution the provisions of the said Act, and doth declare that such regulations shall come into force on and after the twenty-sixth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.
