month from the date of the Gazette containing this notice.

Mining District, and all other persons whom it may con-
cern.

TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a Race and
divert water for the purposes of irrigation and driving
machinery and for domestic purposes. The point of com-
mencement of the race is the Tailings Reserve immediately
below the fortifications at Hamilton, and the drainage will be
diverted therefrom; the point of termination is Section 12,
Block XIV., Maniototo District.

The length of the race is one mile.

The mean breadth is 2 feet, and the mean depth 3 feet.

The course of the race is north-east and south-west.

It is proposed to divert two Government-heads of water.

The land immediately adjoining the said race on both sides
to the distance of 4 feet, calculated from the edge of either
side of the said race, will be required for the purpose of
depositing matter removed from the said race.

The time required for construction is two months.

It is proposed to divert two Government-heads of water.

edge of either side of the said race, will be required for the
purpose of depositing matter removed therefrom.

The time required for construction is one month.

Private Advertisements.

THE INVERCARGILL STEAMSHIP COMPANY
(LIMITED).

ON the 28th January, 1886, an extraordinary general
meeting of Shareholders took place, when the following
resolution was carried unanimously:—

“That the Invercargill Steamship Company (Limited) be
wound up voluntarily on account of the reduction in the
railway freight between Dunedin and Invercargill. We see no
profit likely to accrue by purchasing a steamer or steamers
for that trade.”

The above was confirmed at a special general meeting
held on the 18th February.

The Liquidators are Messrs Thomas Brodrick, Walter
Guthrie, John Macpherson, Wm. H. Hall, Alex. Scrutton,
David Smyth, and John Orson McArdell.

FEATHERSTON ROAD BOARD.—NOTICE OF IN-
TENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR A ROAD.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the
Featherston Road Board to execute a certain public
work, to wit, the construction of a road in the Waipawa
Survey District, Awhea Subdivision of the Featherston Road
District, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and for
the purposes of such public work it is required to take, under
the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and any
amendments thereof, the lands described in the Schedule
hereto: And notice is hereby further given that a copy of
the plan of the said road and of the lands so required to be
taken is deposited at the office of the Road Board at
Featherston, and is there open for inspection: And notice
is hereby further given that all persons affected by the
execution of the said public work or by the taking of the
said lands shall, if they have any well-grounded objection to
the execution of the said public work or to the taking of
such lands, set forth the same in writing, and send such
writing, within forty days from the 11th day of March, 1886,
to the Featherston Road Board, at Featherston.

SCHEDULE.

FIRSTLY. All that piece or parcel of land being part of
Section 156 of Block X. on the plan of the Waipawa Survey
District, in the Featherston Road District, in the Provincial
District of Wellington, containing by admeasurement 5 acres
1 rood 38 perches, a little more or less, and as more par-
ticularly delineated on plan now open for inspection.

Secondly. All that piece or parcel of land being part of
Section 106 of Block X. on plan of the Waipawa Survey
District, in the Featherston Road Board District, in the
Provincial District of Wellington, containing by admeasure-
ment 1 acre 3 roods 32 perches, a little more or less, and as
more particularly delineated on plan now open for inspection.

Thirdly. All that piece or parcel of land being part of
Section 62 of Block XIV. on plan of the Waipawa Survey
District, in the Featherston Road District aforesaid, con-
taining by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 26 perches, a little
more or less, and as more particularly delineated on plan
now open for inspection.

Fourthly. All that piece or parcel of land being part of
Section 61 of Block XIV. on plan of Waipawa Survey Dis-
trict, in the Featherston Road District aforesaid, containing.
