Description of Trade Mark.

The device or picture of an open hand with the words
"Genuine Rahtjen's Composition" above and the words
"Hartmann's Manufacture" at the foot of the said hand.
The hand is printed in red, and the letter-press in black, but
the right is claimed to use any colour or combination of
colours.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade
Mark shall apply.

Chemical substances used in manufactures, photography,
and philosophical research, and anti-corrosives and anti-
foulers.

Notice to Mariners, No. 6 of 1886.

TELEPHONE STATION, FAREWELL SPIT LIGHTHOUSE, WEST-
ERN ENTRANCE OF COOK STRAIT.

Wellington, N.Z., 1st March, 1886.

NOTICE is hereby given that a telephone station has
been opened at Farewell Spit Lighthouse, western
entrance to Cook Strait, so that masters of vessels may
communicate with their owners or agents from that place.
Any signals made with the International Code of Signals
will be telegraphed to the address signalled. Owners or
agents of vessels wishing their vessels to be reported to
them can have it done by communicating with the Principal
Keeper, Farewell Spit. The fees payable on all such tele-
grams will be collected from the persons to whom they are
addressed.

Incorporation of the Wellington Ladies' Christian Associa-
tion as a Separate Institution.

HIS Excellency the Governor in Council directs it to be
notified, in terms of section 43 of "The Hospitals
and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885," that he has received
a petition from the Committee of Management of the Wel-
ington Ladies' Christian Association, including the Home
for Friendless Women, Wellington, to which is annexed a
verified list, signed by 144 persons, in terms of section 38 of
the said Act, praying that the said association may be in-
corporated as a separate institution; and that if no counter-
petition, signed by an equal or greater number of such
persons, shall have been delivered at the office of the Colonial
Secretary within one month after the publication of this
notice, or if the District Board shall not have lodged with the
Colonial Secretary within the same time an objection to
such petition, the Governor in Council will declare the said
association to be a separate institution under the said Act.

to the Wallace and Fiord Hospital.

1885," appointed Monday, the 22nd day of March instant, at
8 o'clock p.m., to be the time, and the Charleston Institute
Hall, to be the place, for the first meeting of the contribu-
tors to the Charleston District Hospital.

£50 Reward.—Supposed Murder.

Constabulary Office,
Wellington, 4th March, 1886.

WHEREAS on the 21st December last the dead body of
a man of the under-mentioned description was found
floating in the Waikato River: And whereas on the 23rd of
the same month an inquest was held on the said body, and
the following verdict returned: "That the deceased was
found dead in the Waikato River, 21st December, 1885, near
Churchill, with mortal wounds appearing on his head,
but how the deceased got into the water, or how or when he
received the wounds, there is no evidence to show, but the
jury do say that in their opinion the deceased came to his
death by foul-play :"

Notice is hereby given that a reward of £50 will be paid by
the Government to any person who will give such information
as shall lead to the arrest of the offender or offenders in case
the deceased came by his death through foul-play.

Description: From forty-five to fifty years of age, 5ft.
8in. high, stout build, eyes appeared to be blue or light
grey, hair on head black, slightly turning grey; cheeks
shaven, sandy-coloured Yankee beard and moustache; two
joints of third finger of the left hand missing, the finger
having been amputated a long time ago. In the upper jaw
the right-central and left-lateral incisor teeth had been
extracted, and the first and second molars have their crowns
broken. In the lower jaw the first and second molars on
both sides had been extracted. The clothing found on
the deceased consisted of white-flannel undershirt, dark-coloured
crimcan shirt, and dark-grey or brown tweed vest, with one
row of small horn buttons. Pieces of each article in pos-
session of Waikato police.

Notice under "The Native Land Laws Amendment Act,
1883."

WHEREAS the estate and interest of Rihi Karenga
Taekata, aboriginal native of New Zealand, in the
land described in the Schedule hereto, is vested in Taekata
te To'oihi, as Trustee under the provisions of "The Maori
Real Estate Management Act, 1867," and the several amend-
ments thereof, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation
of such land, and application has been made for the removal
of such restrictions :

It is hereby notified that it is intended, immediately after
the expiration of sixty days from the publication of this
notice in the Gazette and in the Kahiti, to remove the said
restrictions on the alienation of the said land in respect of
the interests aforesaid, in order that the said land may be
leased by the said Trustee for a term of fifteen years from the
1st April, 1885.

Dated at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of January,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-six.
