Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, on behalf of DR. JAEGER'S SANITARY WOOLLEN SYSTEM COMPANY, LIMITED, of 42 and 43, Fore Street, in the City of London, England, Importers and Manufacturers of Woollen Goods, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:

Description of Trade Mark.

A rectangular figure or surface composed of two squares, one within the other, and arranged diamond-wise; at its central portion is a circular medal or piece bearing a likeness of Professor Dr. G. Jaeger, the said medal or piece being enclosed within a circular badge or piece, whose centre does not coincide with that of the medal. At the lower portion of the circular badge is a clasp or bar bearing a facsimile of Professor Dr. G. Jaeger's signature. Between the two lines comprising the rectangular figure there are at the upper sides the words “Dr. Jaeger's Sanitary Woollen System Co., Limited,” and within the inner of the two lines and above the medal is a band or scroll bearing the words “Sole Concessionaries.” At the lower angle of the rectangular figure is a shield, and below the lower angle of the outer line is a band or scroll bearing the words “Pure Warranted Wool.”

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

Bandages for stomachic disorders, pure woollen bandaging, patent universal abdominal belts, natural-coloured knitting wool, darning wool, undyed stockinette (tricot) stuffs, woollen hat linings, boot cloth and lining, camel-hair material, cashmere material, corset material, corset binding, diaper cloth, dressmaking materials, stockinette material, tailoring materials, cloth for suits, linings (tailoring), babies' binders, face flannel, tablecovers, towels, tweed serge homespun, woollen lace trimming, ladies' frilling, ruche and lace, coverlets, stockinette shirts, stocking-nett lawn-tennis shirts, stockinette combinations, stockinette combinations for bathing, woollen stocking-nette pants, woollen stockinette under-vests, woollen hoods, woollen night-jackets, woollen sleeping-pants, woollen sleeping-wrappers, woollen sleeping-sacks, woollen socks and stockings, coats and trousers, knitted woollen suits, knitted woollen outer-clothing, knitted woollen boys' suits, knitted woollen vests, woollen vests or cardigans, woollen tyrolese belts, woollen braces, woollen handkerchiefs, woollen comforters, woollen gloves, Angora woollen gloves, cycling gloves, woollen cravats, collars, cuffs, and shirt-fronts, hats and bonnets, boots and shoes, woollen ladies' outer-clothing, woollen under-clothing for ladies and children, woollen corsets, woollen cloud shawls, babies' clothing, woollen jacket-bodies, woollen bedding, rugs.

NOTICE is hereby given that EDWARD WATERS, Patent Agent, of Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, has applied, on behalf of the HOP BITTERS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, of Rochester, in the County of Monroe and State of New York, United States of America, Manufacturers of Hop Bitters, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:

Description of Trade Mark.

The device of a sprig of the hop vine in combination with the words and figures “Dr. Soule Hop Bitters, 1872,” the whole of which is blown, moulded, engraved, or otherwise impressed or marked upon or in bottles preferably of amber colour, rectangular section and panelled sides, containing goods of our manufacture. The device we usually place on one of its sides and the words and figures on smaller panels, which slope from the body to the neck of the bottle.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

NOTICE is hereby given that SAMUEL KIRKPATRICK, of Nelson, in the Colony of New Zealand, has applied,
on behalf of the ANCHOR PRESERVING COMPANY, of Nelson aforesaid, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” a trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:

Description of Trade Mark.

The representation of an anchor.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

Baking-powders, catsups, currie-powders, candied peel, candied fruits, chutney, sauces, essences, jams, jellies, marmalades, preserved fruits and vegetables, pickles, perfumes, spices, vinegar, and confectionery.

Bonuses on Colonial Industries.

Wellington, 10th December, 1884.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following bonuses will be paid on articles produced in the Colony of New Zealand, as under:

STARCH.

A bonus of three hundred pounds (£300) will be given on the first 50 tons of good marketable starch manufactured in the Colony of New Zealand.

Conditions.

  1. Notice of intention to claim the bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 30th June, 1885.

  2. The claim must be made before the 31st December, 1885.

  3. The first claimant who proves, to the satisfaction of the Government, that he has fulfilled all the conditions is to be the recipient of the bonus.

  4. Evidence to be produced of such a nature as will enable an officer appointed by the Government to certify that the above-stated quantity has been actually made, sold, and delivered.

  5. The bonus to be paid only on the certificate of such officer.

PRINTING-PAPER.

A bonus of five hundred pounds (£500) will be given for the production of the first 50 tons of printing-paper made by machinery permanently established and working in the colony. The bonus will be paid to the producer who effects the first bonâ fide sale of the amount of printing-paper specified.

SILK.

A bonus of fifty per cent. on the value realized for the first thousand pounds' (£1,000) worth of cocoons of the silkworm, or silkworms' eggs, produced in the colony, to be paid on quantities of not less value than fifty pounds (£50) nor more than one hundred pounds (£100) produced by any one person.

Conditions.

  1. Notice of intention to claim any of the above bonuses must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 30th June, 1885.

  2. The claim must be made before the 31st December, 1885.

  3. The first claimant of any bonus who proves to the satisfaction of the Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the recipient of the bonus.

  4. The other conditions as to quantity, priority, quality, and value to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government.

IRON.

A bonus of one thousand pounds (£1,000) will be given for the production in New Zealand of 300 tons of pig-iron, of marketable quality, from ore produced in New Zealand.

WROUGHT-IRON.

A bonus of one thousand pounds (£1,000) will be given for the production in New Zealand, by a direct process, of 200 tons of "iron blooms," of marketable quality, from ore produced in New Zealand.

Conditions.

  1. The bonus not to be given for any quantity less than 100 tons.

  2. Notice of the intention to erect ironworks and claim the bonus must be given to the Colonial Secretary before the 30th June, 1885.

  3. The bonus must be claimed before the 31st December, 1886.

  4. In the event of more than one claimant giving such notice, not more than seven-tenths of the bonus may be claimed by the first producer, and not more than three-tenths by the second producer; but, if only one claimant becomes a producer on the above conditions, he may claim the whole of the bonus.
