commencing at a point distant from the south-east corner
of Section No. 39 1116·3 links, on a bearing of 1° 30′.
Bounded—Easterly by a line, 976 links, on a bearing of 176°
47′; Northerly by the Shag River, 101 links; Westerly by
a line, 1004 links, on a bearing of 176° 47′; Southerly by a
road-line, 102 links, on a bearing of 75° 32′, to commencing
point.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment 1 rood 2·6 perches, more or less, being portion of Sec-
tion No. 1, Block XV., Moeraki Survey District; commenc-
ing at a point on the southern boundary of Section No. 1
distant from the south-east corner of said section 2660 links
along bends of Shag River. Bounded—Easterly by a line,
240 links, on a bearing of 176° 47′; Northerly by a road-line,
116·6 links, on a bearing of 297° 46′; Westerly by a line, 292
links, on a bearing of 176° 47′; Southerly by the Shag River,
101 links, to commencing point.
All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment 1 acre and 18·9 perches, more or less, being portion of
Section No. 39, Block IV., Dunback Survey District; com-
mencing at a point in the southern boundary of Section
No. 39 distant from the south-east corner of said section
461·7 links, on a bearing of 90°. Bounded—Easterly by
lines, 285 links, on a bearing of 216° 45′, and 850·8 links, on
a bearing of 22° 30′; Northerly by a road-line, 125·2 links,
on a bearing of 75° 32′; Westerly by lines, 762·9 links, on
a bearing of 22° 30′, and 298·6 links, on a bearing of 216° 45′,
and 44·1 links, on a bearing of 12° 58′; Southerly by a road-
line, 102·6 links, on a bearing of 90°, to commencing point.
The above parcels of land being situate in the Dunback
and Moeraki Survey Districts, Provincial District of Otago;
and more particularly delineated upon the plan marked
P.W.D. 12466, deposited in the office of the Minister for
Public Works, Wellington, in the Provincial District of
Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-

of the same; and issued under the Seal of the

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him
by "The Public Works Act, 1882," and "The Public
Works Act 1882 Amendment Act, 1884," and of all other
powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excel-
lency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby consent to the taking of certain lands, described in
the Schedule below, for the purpose of a public road in the
Waihemo County, the said lands, or some of them, being
alleged by the owner or occupier thereof to be or to include
or comprise a plantation or plantations.

Fixing Shooting Season for Deer, License Fee, &c., Nelson
District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Animals
Protection Act, 1880," and "The Animals Protection
Act Amendment Act, 1881," I, William Francis Drummond
Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby notify that deer (bucks or stags only) may be taken
or killed within the Nelson District, consisting of the
Counties of Waimea, Buller, and Collingwood, from the
twentieth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-five, to the fourteenth day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-five, both inclusive (subject,
nevertheless, to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned).
And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such
game within the said district shall be issued on payment of
the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell
such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five
pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster at Nelson is hereby
appointed to issue the said licenses.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this thirty-first day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-five.

WHEREAS by "The New Zealand Institute Act, 1867,"
provision is made for the appointment of members
of a Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute, and
it is enacted that, on the first day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-eight, and on the first day of No-
vember in each succeeding year, three members of the said
Board of Governors shall retire from office, but shall be
eligible for reappointment: And whereas the Honourable
George Marsden Waterhouse, Thomas Mason, Esquire, and
William Thomas Locke Travers, Esquire, three of the
members of the said Board of Governors, have retired from
office, and are eligible for reappointment under the provisions
of the said Act: And whereas by the said Act it is also pro-
vided that, on the annual retirement of the said three
members, the successors of such retiring members shall be
appointed by the Governor:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority in that behalf vested
in me by the said Act, do hereby appoint
The Honourable GEORGE MARSDEN WATERHOUSE, M.L.C.,
THOMAS MASON, Esquire, and
WILLIAM THOMAS LOCKE TRAVERS, Esquire, F.L.S.,
to be Governors of the institution called the New Zealand
Institute.
