NOTICE.
To the Chief Commissioner, Southland Waste Lands Board at Invercargill, and all other persons whom it may concern.
TAKE notice that it is intended to construct a Water-race and divert water from the stream known as Jericho Stream, at Blackmount, commencing about 1 mile and 15 chains from its junction with the Waiau River, and extending towards the said junction on the south-east bank of the stream about 10 chains. Race to be 3 feet wide and about 3 feet deep, with 4 feet on each side occupied by the earth taken out for the race; the reservoir being 1 chain wide at the head of the race and extending back about 5 chains, greatest depth, say, 7 feet; to supply, say, four Government-heads of water. By-wash channel to be at the north-west end of the dam. A tail-race will be constructed, commencing at the lower end of the water-race and running into the stream about 5 chains therefrom. Time required for construction and completion of race, one month.

In the matter of “The Companies Act, 1882,” and of the Picton Coal Company (Limited), and of the petition of John Renfrew.
NOTICE is hereby given that a petition for the winding-up of the above-named company by the Supreme Court was, on the 12th day of November, 1885, presented to His Honour Christopher William Richmond, a Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, by John Renfrew, a creditor of the said company, and that the said petition is directed to be heard before John Allen, Esq., Registrar at Blenheim of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, in the absence of the Judge, on Saturday, the 28th day of November, 1885, at 10 o’clock in the forenoon; and any creditor or contributory of the said company desirous to oppose the making of an order for the winding-up of the said company under the above Act should appear, at the time of hearing, by himself or his counsel for that purpose. And a copy of the petition will be furnished to any creditor or contributory of the said company requiring the same, by the undersigned, on payment of the regulated charges for the same.

COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH.—CORPORATION TRAMWAY.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Mayor, Councillors, and citizens of the City of Christchurch (hereinafter called the “Christchurch City Council”) intend, pursuant to “The Tramways Act, 1872,” and “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” to apply to His Excellency the Governor for an order authorizing the Council—
I. To construct a line of tramway, to be called the Christchurch Corporation Tramway, from the City of Christchurch to the Cemetery and Nightsoil Reserves, numbered respectively 210 and 212.
II. A tramway, to be worked by either steam- or horse-power, starting from the Corporation-yard in Worcester Street, Christchurch; thence along Worcester Street to Cathedral Square, north side thereof, crossing Colombo Street; thence round the north side of the said square to Worcester Street; thence along Worcester Street to the east side of the East Town Belt, where it adjoins the western boundary of the Linwood Town District; thence (continuing the before-described line) along Worcester Street East, in the Linwood Town District, to the Canal Reserve, where the boundary of the said Linwood Town District adjoins or meets the Road District of Heathcote; thence (continuing the before-described line) along the Canal Reserve, in the Road District of Heathcote; thence along Buckley’s Road and the Cemetery Road to the Christchurch Public Cemetery (Reserve 210), continuing along Buckley’s Road; thence across Reserve No. 107 to the Slaughterhouse Road; thence to the Council’s Nightsoil Reserve (No. 212): which said line is more particularly delineated and described in the plan and longitudinal sections made in accordance with section 299 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” deposited in the office of the Council hereinafter described.
III. The names of the cities, towns, and districts in which the proposed works are,—
(1.) City of Christchurch;
(2.) Town Board of Linwood;
(3.) Heathcote Road Board.
IV. On or before Saturday, 28th November, 1885, the deposit required in accordance with subsection 2 of section 7, and Part II. of Schedule No. 3, of “The Tramways Act, 1872,” will be made at the following places for public inspection:—
- Office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Christchurch;
- Office of the Linwood Town Board, Worcester Street, Linwood;
- The office of the Heathcote Road Board, Ferry Road;
