Description of Trade Mark No. 2.

A label in a lined ground, with the word “Brilliants” in the centre, in open letters shaded in black; under that a small gold heart transfixed by an arrow, with the word “Established;” and under that the figures “1868” within the heart. On the left side of the heart the word “Trade,” and on the right side the word “Mark;” under, and on the left side of the heart, the word “Made,” and on the right side of the heart the words “only by;” underneath the said heart an open ribbon, shaded in black, containing the words “McLeod Bros., Ltd., Dunedin;” under the ribbon the words “Specially adapted for mining purposes.” On the left side of the label a representation of the medal, printed in black on gold ground, of the Melbourne International Exhibition, 1880; underneath, to the left, a representation of the medal, printed in black on gold ground, of the Sydney International Exhibition, 1879; and underneath, to the right, and partly over the representation of the Sydney medal, a representation of the medal, printed in black on gold ground, of the Christchurch International Exhibition, 1872; on the top of the representations the words “Gold Medal, Melbourne,” in an open ribbon, shaded in black; underneath the representation the words “First Awards, Sydney and Christchurch,” in an open ribbon, shaded in black; to the right of the label representations of the reverse of the said medals, printed in black on gold ground, with same words and ribbons as are over and under the representations of the medals on the left of the label.

Description of Trade Mark No. 3.

A label about one foot long by two inches wide, with the word “Improved” printed in small capital letters, shaded in black horizontal lines, with a double scroll on either side; under that the words “Electric Stearine” printed in capital letters three-quarters of an inch long; the whole enclosed within a fancy black border about nine and a quarter inches long. On the right side of the centre fancy black border the word “Electric” printed across the label, in a fancy black border one inch wide, the initial letter being a capital and the remainder small letters a quarter of an inch long, with the bottom of the letters nearest to the right end of the label; and on the left side of the centre fancy black border the word “Electric” printed across the label in a fancy black border an inch wide, the initial letter being a capital and the remainder small letters a quarter of an inch long, with the bottom of the letters nearest to the left end of the label.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that FRED WALSH, Manager of EDWARD WATERS, International Patent and Trade Marks Office, 51, Hunter Street, Sydney, has applied, on behalf of HOLMES SAMUEL CHIPMAN, of 54, Margaret Street, in the City of Sydney and Colony of New South Wales, Merchant, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:

Description of Trade Mark.

A device consisting of the representation of a kangaroo surrounded by two concentric circles, the words and letters “Brown Bros. & Co., N.Y.,” together with an adjective of quality such as “triple,” “quadruple,” &c., and the word “plate,” occupying the space between said circles.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

Application for Registration of a Trade Mark.

NOTICE is hereby given that FRED WALSH, Manager of EDWARD WATERS, International Patent and Trade Marks Office, 51, Hunter Street, Sydney, has applied, on behalf of the persons constituting the firm of R. F. AND J. ALEXANDER AND COMPANY, of 100, Duke Street, Glasgow, North Britain, Cotton Manufacturers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description, viz.:

Description of Trade Mark.

A circular label or a show-card, the most prominent feature of which is the representation of the sun having depicted upon it the features of a human face, and sometimes the word “sun” as well; this device is surrounded by concentric circles, between which at the top is the word or name “Alexanders,” while at the bottom the representation of a shield, on which a number or numeral is printed, is placed between descriptive words such as “Sun glace,” or “Six cord,” or others. The label is generally printed in three colours, but it may be used in any colours or combination of colours.

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

Sewing cotton, crochet cotton, and knitting cotton of every description.

Bonus for Kerosene.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 18th February, 1885.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus will be paid for the production of kerosene under the following conditions:—

A bonus of sixpence per gallon will be paid on kerosene produced within the colony to an extent not exceeding 50,000 gallons, in quantities of not less than 10,000 gallons at a time; the kerosene to be of a quality approved of by Government, and to be sold at a fair average market price.

Conditions.

  1. Notice of intention to claim the above bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1885.
  2. The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1886.
  3. The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the recipient of the bonus.
  4. The other conditions as to quantity, priority, quality, and value to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government.

Bonus for Canned and Cured Fish for Export.

Treasury Department,
Wellington, 10th November, 1885.

IT is hereby notified that bonuses under “The Fisheries Encouragement Act, 1885,” as set forth in the following sections (Nos. 8, 9, and 10) of that Act, will be paid subject to the conditions named therein, and in the regulations contained in the Order in Council of even date herewith.

  1. In order to encourage the production and curing of fish for export, the Colonial Treasurer shall during the next seven years after the passing of this Act, without further appropriation by Parliament, pay out of the Consolidated Fund to any person who shall prepare canned and cured fish for export, and actually export the same from the colony, a bonus or bonuses upon the quantity of canned and cured fish prepared and exported by such person as hereinafter mentioned, that is to say,—

(1.) In respect of the first 200 tons avoirdupois of fish canned with or without oil, the sum of 1d. per pound, the weight of the cans not to be included in the tonnage upon which such bonus is paid;

(2.) In respect of every ton avoirdupois of fish canned as aforesaid beyond the first 200 tons, the sum of ½d. per pound, the weight of the cans not to be included in the tonnage upon which such bonus is paid;

(3.) In respect to cured fish the bonus to be paid shall be respectively ½d. and ¼d. a pound under similar conditions, as far as the same are applicable to those contained in the two last subsections.
