Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1882,” for a certain work, to wit, the construction of a street in the Borough of Gisborne, Provincial District of Auckland:

And whereas the Borough Council of Gisborne has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section eleven of “The Public Works Act, 1882,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a street; and that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the land so mentioned shall become absolutely vested in fee-simple in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Gisborne, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, or interests of what kind soever, for use as a street.
