SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 5 acres 1 rood 38
perches, more or less, situate in the Halswell Survey Dis-
trict, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point
south-west of, and 819 links distant from, the intersection of
the centre lines of Dublin Street and Norwich Quay, in the
Borough of Lyttelton, and bearing from said intersection
57° 4'; thence south-westerly, 88° 3' 759 links, 58° 10' 598
links, 49° 36' 749 links, 62° 21' 30' 169 links, and 70° 15'
281 links; thence north-westerly, 174° 15' 160 links; thence
north-easterly, 19° 45' 201 links, 48° 45' 225 links, 77° 30'
450 links, and 44° 16' 804 links; thence south-easterly,
94° 52' 1001 links, 152° 48' 60 links, and 174° 51' 33 links to
the commencing point: be all the aforesaid linkages more
or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in
the District Survey Office, Christchurch.

stituted.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by “The Town Districts Act, 1881” (herein-
after called “the said Act”), it is, among other
things, enacted that the inhabitants of any locality not
constituted a borough under “The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1876,” wherein there are not less than fifty house-
holders, may apply by petition to the Governor praying that
such locality may be constituted a town district under the
said Act; and that no such locality shall exceed two square
miles in area, and no one point in such area shall be distant
more than four miles from any other point therein, except
in the case of military townships; and that in every such
locality not less than two-thirds of the number of the resi-
dent householders shall concur in any such petition, and
each signature to such petition shall be verified by the
attestation of some respectable witness; and that such
petition shall set forth accurately the boundaries of the
locality to which such petition may refer; and also that,
on the receipt of any such petition, the Governor may, by
Proclamation, declare that the provisions of the said Act
shall come into force within such locality, and that the
same shall be a town district under the said Act; and,
further, that such Proclamation shall accurately define the
boundaries of the district in accordance with the description
contained in the petition, and shall declare the name by
which such district shall thereafter be known:
And whereas a petition has been presented to the
Governor, by the inhabitants of the locality mentioned and
described therein, praying that such locality may be consti-
tuted a town district under the said Act:
And whereas not less than two-thirds of the number of
resident householders in the said locality have concurred in
the said petition, and it is expedient that a Proclamation
should be issued under the said Act for the purposes herein-
after set forth:
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the
hereinbefore in part recited Act, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the provisions of the said Act shall come into
force within the locality or district mentioned and described
in the Schedule hereto (the same being the locality men-
tioned and set forth in the said petition so presented as
aforesaid), and that the same shall be a town district under
the said Act; and, in further pursuance and exercise of the
said power and authority, I do hereby declare that the said
district shall hereafter be known by the name of the Or-
mondville Town District, and I do appoint that the Board
of Commissioners for the said district shall consist of five
in number.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the County of Waipawa, situate in the
Takapau Survey District, bounded towards the North-west
by Sections Nos. 137, 136, 135, and 134 respectively, Block
IX.; towards the North-east by Sections Nos. 162, 163, and
141 respectively of the said block; again towards the North-
west by the last-mentioned section to its easternmost corner;
thence towards the North by a right line to the westernmost
corner of Section No. 18, Block V., Ormondville Township;
thence again towards the North-west generally by Cecilia
Street of the said township to the northernmost corner of
Section No. 10, Block VI., Ormondville Township aforesaid;
thence towards the South-west by a right line to the south-
western corner of the Rubbish Reserve in Ormondville Town-
ship aforesaid; thence again towards the North-west and
North-east generally by the Mangarangiora Creek to the
easternmost corner of the Recreation Reserve, Ormondville
Township aforesaid; thence towards the South-east and East
generally by a road and railway reserve to a point in line
with the south-western boundary-line of Section No. 119,
Block X.; thence again towards the North-east by a right
line across the said road and railway reserve to the south-
western corner of the said Section No. 119; thence by that
section and Sections Nos. 118 and 117 to the southernmost
corner of the latter section; thence again towards the South-
east by Sections Nos. 115, 114, and 123 respectively of the
said Block X. and Section No. 112 of the said Block IX. to
the Makotoka Stream; thence again towards the South-west by
the said Makotoka Stream; thence again towards the South-
east by Sections Nos. 26 and 27 respectively, a road, and
Sections Nos. 28, 29, 30, and 31 respectively, Block IX. afore-
said; again towards the South-west by a road forming the
south-western boundary of Section No. 20 and of Section
No. 19, Block IX. aforesaid, to a point in line with the
south-western boundary-line of Section No. 4, Block IX.
aforesaid; thence by a right line to the southernmost corner
of the said Section No. 4; thence by a road to the southern-
most corner of Section No. 2, Block IX. aforesaid; thence
again towards the North-west by the said Section No. 2, a
road, and Section No. 9 to the Makotoka Stream aforesaid;
and thence again towards the South-west generally by that
stream to Section No. 137 aforesaid.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
is vested in certain aboriginal natives of New Zea-
land, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such
land, and application has been made for the removal of such
restrictions:
It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excel-
lency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of
sixty days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette
and in the Kahiti, partially to remove the said restrictions
on the alienation of the said land, so as to admit of the
leasing of the said lands for twenty-one years.
