Redividing County of Taranaki into Ridings, dissolving
Council, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the sixth day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
five, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the ninth
day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five,
a portion of the County of Taranaki has been constituted a
new county, called the County of Clifton, and it is therefore
expedient to redivide the said county of Taranaki into
ridings, to dissolve the Council of the said County, and
make provision for the election of a new Council :

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers vested in me by " The Counties
Acts Amendment Act, 1883," do hereby proclaim and declare
that the said County of Taranaki shall be divided into four
ridings, to be called the Omata Riding, the Parihaka Riding,
the Moa Riding, and the Waitara Riding ; that the boundaries
of the said ridings shall be those described in the Schedule
hereto ; and that the number of Councillors to be elected for
each such riding shall be as follows : For the Omata Riding,
two Councillors ; for the Parihaka Riding, two Councillors ;
for the Moa Riding, three Councillors ; and for the Waitara
Riding, two Councillors.

And, in further pursuance of the said powers, I do hereby
proclaim and declare that the Council of the County of
Taranaki shall, as from the fifteenth day of August, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, be and the same is
hereby dissolved.

SCHEDULE.

The Omata Riding comprises the Road Districts of Carring-
ton, Frankley, Elliot, Barrett, Omata, Upper Hurford,
Oakura, and Tataraimaka.

The Parihaka Riding comprises the Town District of
Opunake and the Road Districts of Okato and Stony River
(Parihaka).

The Moa Riding comprises the Town Districts of Stratford
and Inglewood, and the Road Districts of Moa, Manganui,
Waiwakaiho, and Mangorei.

The Waitara Riding comprises the Town District of Wai-
tara, and the Road Districts of Henui, Egmont, and Waitara
West.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same ; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this eleventh day of August, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
is vested in certain aboriginal natives of New Zea-
land, subject to certain restrictions on the alienation of such
land, and application has been made for the removal of such
restrictions :

It is hereby notified that it is the intention of His Excel-
lency the Governor, immediately after the expiration of
sixty days from the publication of this notice in the Gazette
and in the Kahiti, partially to remove the said restrictions
on the alienation of the said land, so as to admit of the
leasing of the said lands for twenty-one years.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William
Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General
in Her Majesty's Army, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-
