ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day
of June, 1885.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section fourteen of "The Public Works
Act, 1882," it is enacted that, if it is found that any
land held, taken, purchased, or acquired at any time under
that Act or any other Act or provincial ordinance, or other-
wise however, for public works, is not required for public use,
the Governor may, by an Order in Council publicly notified
and gazetted, cause the same to be sold under the conditions
therein set forth :
And whereas the Napier Borough Council has laid before
the Governor the memorial referred to in the section afore-
said, praying the Governor, by an Order in Council, to cause
such land to be sold :
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and
authorities aforesaid, do hereby order and authorize the land
described in the Schedule hereto to be sold and dealt with
in the manner and subject to the conditions of the four-
teenth and following sections of the above in part recited
Act.

be a District Road, under the Charge and Control of the
Hamilton Road Board.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day of
August, 1885.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him
by "The Public Works Act, 1882," and of all other
powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excel-
lency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth
hereby order that the road in the Hamilton Road District,
described in the Schedule below, shall, on after the date
above mentioned, become a district road, under the charge
and control of the Hamilton Road Board.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment 6 acres 1 rood 23 perches, more or less, for some time
past used as a public road, and having a width of 100 links
throughout, and being portion of Lot No. 215, Parish of
Pukete, in the Provincial District of Auckland. Com-
mencing at the northernmost corner or angle of Lot No. 209
in the said parish, and bounded South-easterly and Easterly
by said Lot No. 209, 3624 links and 2739 links respectively;
Southerly by Lot No. 51 in the said parish, 100 links;
Westerly by other portion of said Lot No. 215, 2770 links;
North-westerly by other portion of said Lot No. 215 and
Railway Reserve, 3662 links; North-easterly to the point of
commencement by the Great South Road, 100 links; as
delineated upon the plan marked P.W.D. 13155, deposited in
the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in
the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured
pink.

Extending Close Season for Rock-oysters in Whangarei
Harbour, &c.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day
of August, 1885.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884"
(hereinafter termed "the said Act"), it is, among
other things, enacted that the Governor in Council may from
time to time make, alter, and revoke regulations for the
purposes therein mentioned, which said regulations shall
have force and effect only in any waters or places specified
therein :
And whereas by Order in Council dated the twenty-seventh
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five,
certain regulations were made in exercise of the powers
conferred by the said Act prescribing a close season for rock-
oysters :
And whereas it is now expedient to extend such close
season in respect of the parts of the colony hereinafter set
forth :
Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of
the powers conferred on me by the said Act, and by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said colony, do hereby make the following regulation :β
The close season for rock-oysters prescribed by the regula-
tions made under the said Act by Order in Council bearing
date the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty-five, is hereby extended until the thirty-
first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-
seven, in respect of Whangarei Harbour, the Great Barrier
Island, and the foreshore of the coast and of all islands
in Hauraki Gulf and Firth of Thames south of a line drawn
from Cape Colville to the northern point of Whangaparaoa
Peninsula.
Any person committing a breach of the above regulation
shall be liable to a penalty of not less than one pound and
not exceeding fifty pounds.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day of
August, 1885.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS at a meeting of the Council of the Borough
of Kaiapoi, held on the thirtieth day of April, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, the burgess list of
the said borough for the year from one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty-five to one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-six was signed by Joseph Lowthian Wilson, the Coun-
cillor acting as Chairman of the said meeting, in the absence
of the Mayor: And whereas doubts have been raised as to
the validity of the said roll in consequence of such signature,
and it is expedient that the same should be validated as
hereinafter mentioned :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by
"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," doth hereby order
and declare that the said burgess roll so signed by the said
Joseph Lowthian Wilson as aforesaid shall be deemed to be
valid and effectual, and shall have the same force and effect
as if the same had been duly signed by the Mayor of the said
borough in person.
