Gold-Mining Lease cancelled.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned gold-mining lease cancelled, and that the ground is now open for application as if no lease of the said ground had ever been applied for:—

Gold-Mining Leases to be granted.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of “The Mines Act, 1877,” and with the regulations made under that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant leases of Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against such leases.
Objections to the granting of such leases, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Commissioner of Crown Lands, at Christchurch, on or before the 23rd day of July, 1885.
Copy of the applications made and plans annexed may be seen at the Land Office, at Christchurch.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANTS: William Brice, George Fletcher, William Francis Warner, and Francis James Smith. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Dry Gulch Gold-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, situated in the Davie Survey District of Canterbury. Bounded on the South-west by Gold-Mining Leases Nos. 3 and 28; on the North-west by Canterbury and Westland boundary-line; on the South-east by a line drawn from the north-eastern corner of Lease No. 3 to the south-eastern corner of Lease No. 2, and by the north-western boundary of latter lease; on the North-east by Lease No. 2 and a line drawn at a right angle from the north-western boundary of said lease. In the Davie Mining District.

Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Boundary Gold-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, Davie District, Canterbury. Bounded on the South-west by Gold-Mining Leases Nos. 2 and 22; on the South-east by Lease No. 2 and a line bearing 45° 32' from the north-eastern corner of Lease No. 2 to the Canterbury and Westland boundary-line; on the North-west and North-east by Canterbury and Westland boundary. In the Davie Mining District.
Applicants: William Brice and Francis James Smith. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Hector Quartz-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods. Bounded on the North-east by a line forming the south-western boundary of Lease No. 23; on the South-east by a line bearing from thence 223° true, a distance of 400 yards; on the South-west by a line parallel to the north-eastern boundary; on the North-west by a line parallel to the south-eastern boundary. In the Davie Mining District.
Applicant: Albert Cuff. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Central Gold-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods. Bounded on the South-east by Lease No. 3; on the North-east by a line in continuation of the north-eastern boundary of Lease No. 3; on the South-west by continuation of the south-western boundary of Lease No. 3; on the North-west by Westland and Canterbury boundary. In the Davie Mining District.
Applicant: Alfred Cuff. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Golden Crown Gold-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods. Bounded on the South-east by Lease No. 1; on the North-east by the continuation of the south-western boundary of Lease No. 3; on the South-west by the continuation of the south-western boundary of Lease No. 1; on the North-west by Westland and Canterbury boundary. In the Davie Mining District.
Applicant: Edward Harman. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “The Endeavour.” 16 acres 2 roods. Bounded on the South-west by, and in continuation of, Lease No. 26. In the Davie Mining District.
Applicant: William Brice. Style under which it is intended to conduct the business: “Somerset Quartz-Mining Company.” 16 acres 2 roods, the south-eastern boundary bearing 20° (magnetic), the north-eastern boundary running on Trig. Station W, the easternmost corner being 3 chains north-west of said trig. station; part in Davie and part in Westland Mining District.
