PATENT for an Invention to be known as “Mackay,
Walden, North, and Wyper’s Improved Barb Wire-
making Machine.”
COLIN MACKAY, Engineer, HENRY WALDEN, Merchant,
HENRY NORTH, Gentleman, and ROBERT WYPER, Engineer,
all of Dunedin, New Zealand, have deposited at this office
a specification of the said invention; and I have appointed
Thursday, the 17th day of September next, at 11 o’clock in
the forenoon, at this office, to hear the said application and
all objections thereto; and I require all persons having an
interest in opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to
leave, on or before the 2nd day of September next, at this
office, particulars in writing of their objections to the said
application, otherwise they will be precluded from urging
the same.

School Site appropriated under “The Education Reserves
Act, 1877.”
IN exercise of the powers and authorities vested in them
by “The Education Reserves Act, 1877,” the School
Commissioners for the Canterbury Provincial District have,
by resolution dated the 23rd day of April, 1885, appropriated
and set apart the hereinafter described parcel of land as a
site for a public school.

ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less,
being part of Reserve No. 944 (in red), situate in the Opihi
Survey District, and bounded on the North-east by the road
forming the north-east boundary of Reserve No. 944 (in red),
600 links; on the South-east by a line at right angles to said
road, a distance of 679·5 links; on the South-west by a line
parallel to the north-eastern boundary, 872·2 links; and
towards the North-west by the road forming the north-
western boundary of Reserve No. 944 (in red), 732 links.
Gold Fields Notices.
Gold-Mining Lease cancelled.

IT is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has
been pleased to pronounce the under-mentioned gold-
mining lease cancelled, and that the ground is now open for
application as if no lease of the said ground had ever been
applied for:—
Bennett and Dewar; Section 8, Block I., 16 acres 2 roods
3 perches, Fraser District, Otago Mining District. No.109c.

Certificate of Protection.

IN accordance with the third section of “The Mines Act
1877 Amendment Act, 1879,” a certificate of protection
for five months, from the 1st day of June to the 1st day of
November, 1885, is granted in favour of the Hopeful Ex-
tended Gold-Mining Company (Limited), for their Special
Claim No. 1263, Section 92, Block XI., Reefton.

Certificate of Protection.

IN accordance with the third section of “The Mines Act
1877 Amendment Act, 1879,” a certificate of protection
for five months from the 1st day of June to the 1st day of
November, 1885, is granted in favour of the Big River
Extended Gold-Mining Company (Limited), for their gold-
mining lease known as the “Pioneer.”

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of “The
Mines Act, 1877,” and with the regulations made under
that Act for the granting of leases for gold-mining purposes,
it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease of
Crown lands for gold-mining purposes to the applicants speci-
fied in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid
objections against such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds
of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the
Warden at Lawrence on or before the 9th day of July, 1885.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed may be
seen at the Warden’s Office at Lawrence.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANTS: John Harris and others. Style under which
it is intended to conduct the business: “Fidelity Gold-
Mining Company.” 1 acre 2 roods 37 perches, being Sec-
tion No. 16, Block XVIII., Tuapeka West, in the Tuapeka
Mining District.

day of June, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty-five.

with the Warden at St. Bathan’s on or before the 9th day of
July, 1885.

seen at the Warden’s Office at St. Bathan’s.

is intended to conduct the business: “Prince of Wales Com-
pany.” 6 acres, at Shepherd’s Flat, in the Mount Ida Mining
District.
