In the matter of a Bill intituled “An Act to incorporate the
Congregational Union of New Zealand.”

NOTICE is hereby given that application is intended to
be made at the next session of the General Assembly
for leave to bring in a Bill, the objects of the intended appli-
cation being as follows :—

1. To obtain incorporation, under the name of “The Con-
   gregational Union of New Zealand,” of such persons as are
   or may become members of the religious denomination
   of Congregationalists, or Independents, and who compose
   the association called “The Congregational Union of New
   Zealand,” with power to take, purchase, hold, enjoy, sell,
   demise, or otherwise dispose of property, real or personal.

2. That trustees of property held in trust for the said
   religious denomination be empowered to convey such pro-
   perty to the Congregational Union of New Zealand, to be
   held upon such trusts as are set out in a Schedule to the
   proposed Bill; and that, for the purpose of executing the
   conveyance, co-trustees may act as attorney for any trustee
   absent from the colony.

3. That it be provided that such trustees shall not convey
   without the consent and direction of the majority of the
   Church members in trust for whom the property is held,
   capable of being present and voting at a meeting duly con-
   vened.

4. That it be defined as to what members shall be entitled
   to vote with regard to such consent and direction.

5. That it be enacted as to who is to be chairman of the
   meeting.

Schedule A to the proposed Bill sets forth the general
tenets of the religious body or denomination called Congre-
gationalists or Independents.

Schedule B sets forth the constitution of the association
called the Congregational Union of New Zealand.

Schedule C sets forth the trusts upon which property shall
be held by the body corporate.

Copies of the proposed Bill will be deposited in the office of
the Examiner of Standing Orders on or before the commence-
ment of the next session of the General Assembly of New
Zealand.
