side, and the red light from right ahead to four points abaft the beam on the port side; and (2) a white light in a globular lanthorn of not less than 8 inches in diameter, and so constructed as to show a clear, uniform, and unbroken light all round the horizon, the lanthorn containing such white light shall be carried lower than the lanthorn showing the green and red lights as aforesaid, so, however, that the vertical distance between them shall not be less than 6 feet and not more than 12 feet.

By-law made by New River Harbour Board disallowed.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by section 62 of “The Harbours Act, 1878,” to disallow the following by-law made by the New River Harbour Board on the 30th ultimo.

BY-LAW.—JETTY DUES.

THERE shall be levied and payable upon all imported goods and merchandise discharged at the Invercargill Jetty a jetty rate of three shillings and three pence per ton, weight or measurement, according to the ship’s bill of lading; provided that a rebate equal to one shilling and ninepence per ton shall be allowed to those consignees whose goods are removed from the jetty in railway trucks drawn by the steam-engines belonging to the Government railways. No rebate to be allowed to those consignees who take delivery of their consignments at the jetty and remove them therefrom by cart or other vehicle. Goods and merchandise will be delivered at consignees’ premises in town without any further charge, and beyond the town boundary at the additional rate payable under the by-laws of the Corporation of Invercargill.
