Offensive Matter to be removed.

  1. All blood, offal, or other offensive matter shall be removed from such licensed premises at least once in every twenty-four hours.

Cattle not to be kept longer than a certain Period without being slaughtered.

  1. It shall not be lawful to keep within or upon any licensed premises for a period longer than three days any cattle intended for slaughter.

Animals unfit for Human Food.

  1. There shall not be admitted into any licensed premises any animal which, from injury or any other cause, would not when killed be fit for human food, nor shall be there so admitted the carcase of any animal unfit for human food.

Licensee to give Notice of any Diseased Animal.

  1. Every licensee shall give immediate notice in writing to the Clerk of the Board, and to the officer appointed by the Board to inspect slaughterhouses, of any diseased animal being brought to such licensed slaughterhouse for slaughter.

Cattle to be properly watered and fed.

  1. All cattle received into pen, stalls, or yards belonging to any licensed slaughterhouse shall be properly watered and fed.

Certain Persons to be admitted to Licensed Premises.

  1. Every licensee shall admit to the licensed premises, at any hour of the day or night, any officer of the Board or of the police force.

Penalties.

  1. Any person guilty of any offence of omission or commission against this by-law shall forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding £5, to be recovered in a summary way before any two or more Justices of the Peace in the manner provided by “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882,” and any Acts amending the same.

I, __, of __, in the Portobello Road District, being the owner [or occupier as the case may be] of premises situated at __, within the County of Peninsula, make application for a license to use such premises as a slaughterhouse.

Application for Registration of Two Trade Marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that JOHN MIGHT COOTE, of 100, Collins Street West, Melbourne, in the Colony of Victoria, Merchant, has applied to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade marks of which the following is a description, viz.:—

Description of Trade Mark No. 1.

A combination of two designs, both printed on what is intended to be used as a wrapper for packages of tea. The first consists of three shields bearing the words “Federal Brand Pure Tea;” surrounding the left side of the label are ferns and palm leaves, right side two kangaroos and Australian scenery. The second consists of a map of Australia with the principal word “Federation” across it.

Description of Trade Mark No. 2.

A combination of two designs, both printed on what is intended to be used as a wrapper for packages of tea. The first consists of two shields with the words “Gordon Brand Pure Tea;” in the background some palms and tea-leaves. The second consists of the likeness of the late General Gordon, with the wording underneath, “Major-General Charles George Gordon, C.B., late Governor-General of the Soudan;” the top represents Egyptian trophies of war in the Soudan, viz., shield, sword, spears, and banners.

Nature of the Article to which it is intended such Trade Marks shall apply.

The figure of an Indian coolie woman holding in hand tea-plucking basket; back-ground of tea-bushes; over head scroll, with words indicative of the brand of tea, viz., “The Planter’s Choice.”

DRURY, of George Street, Sheffield, England, Patent Agent, has applied, on behalf of FELTEN AND GUILLEAUME, of Mulheim on the Rhine, Cologne, Germany, Wire Manufacturers, to register, under “The Trade Marks Act, 1866,” the trade mark of which the following is a description:—

Description of Trade Mark.

The representation of a trident, having the letter “F” on one side and the letter “G” on the other side, with the word “Neptune,” underneath; thus:—

Nature of the Articles to which it is intended such Trade Mark shall apply.

Steel and iron wire, wire, rope, twines, yarns, and hemp ropes. The trade mark is usually applied by means of a metallic or other label.

SPECIAL ORDER ALTERING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE HEATHCOTE RIDING OF THE COUNTY OF SELWYN.

WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the 21st day of October, 1884, the boundaries of the Counties of Akaroa and Selwyn respectively were altered so as to include within the County of Selwyn the Road District of Taitapu, which was theretofore included in the County of Akaroa: And whereas a petition has been presented to the Council of the said County of Selwyn praying that the said Taitapu Road District may be included within the boundaries of the Heathcote Riding of the said county: Now, therefore, the Council of the County of Selwyn, in pursuance and exercise of the power given to it by “The Counties Act, 1876,” and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, doth hereby ordain and declare that the said Road District of Taitapu, as described in the New Zealand Gazette for 1884, page 1208, shall be added to the Heathcote Riding, and that the boundaries of the said riding shall henceforth be those set forth in the Schedule hereto.
