Slaughterhouse By-laws made by Portobello Road Board, County of Peninsula.

THE following by-laws, made by the Portobello Road Board, are published in accordance with "The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1882," and the Acts amending the same.

By-LAW No. 2, re SLAUGHTERHOUSES, passed by Special Order of the Portobello Road Board on the 28th March, 1885.

No Building or Premises to be used for slaughtering Cattle not the Property of the Owner, except as herein provided.

  1. No building or premises within the Portobello Road District shall be used as a place for the slaughtering of cattle not the property of the owner of the building or premises, except licensed as hereinafter mentioned; nor shall any building or premises unless licensed as aforesaid be used for the slaughtering of cattle, the property of the owner, after notice served upon such owner, or left for him on such premises, requiring such owner to discontinue such user.

Application for License.

  1. The owner or occupier of any premises may apply to the Portobello Road Board for a license to use the same as a slaughterhouse, and such application shall be in writing, in the form set forth in the First Schedule hereto, and shall be made to the Clerk of the Portobello Road Board.

License Fee.

  1. For each such license there shall be paid by the licensee to the Road Board Fund a fee of 10s., and each license shall remain in force from the date thereof until the 31st day of December next ensuing, and no longer.

Slaughterhouses to be kept clean.

  1. Every licensed slaughterhouse shall be kept clean, and the buildings scraped, limewashed, and purified, so that no noxious or injurious effects may accrue to the public from such slaughterhouse.
